Village’s holiday celebration
grows with new attractions
Hundreds spend
afternoon at
Christmas in the
Commons event

Nine-year-old Henry Lennon
was king of the mountain
as he stood atop a giant ball
of snow in the Village Commons.
He and his father, Tim,
played together in the snow
among the many other New
Lenox residents who attended
the annual Christmas in
the Commons Kick-off Celebration
on Sunday.

It was a picturesque setting
as the snow fell outside
while children threw snowballs
and built snowmen on
the grounds of the Village
Commons. Christmas carols
echoed inside Village Hall,

decorations sparkled and the
holiday spirit was in the air.
While this year’s celebration
included many of the same
annual activities, like the
children’s coloring contest,
visits with Santa and Mrs.
Claus, as well as official tree
lighting ceremony, this year
was particularly special, according
to Mayor Tim Baldermann.
For 2016, the Village took
the celebration up a notch
with a massive display of
decorations, including the
