Lyricist turns champion
Popular song writer Sheik
Rana, who has written many
famous songs like “Pori” by
Bappa Mazumder is now busy
with something else. He has
recently won a local badminton
tournament. It was like a selftreat
for Sheik Rana. He shared
his happiness on social media as
well. He even mentioned that,
this is not the first time he played
badminton. In his early age, he
used to pass his time playing
games like badminton and others,
in the High Court area of Dhaka.
Meryl Streep movie ranked
• Showtime Desk
• Showtime Desk
With 19 Academy Award
nominations and three wins,
critically-acclaimed movie credits,
and mother to talented daughters -
two actresses and a model - Meryl
Streep’s influence on the movie
industry is likely to outlive her.
With this in mind,
PrettyFamous, an entertainment
data site by Graphiq, ranked every
Meryl Streep movie from worst
to first. To do so, PrettyFamous
compiled a list of Streep’s movie
credits (whether her role was big
or small) and ranked each based on
its Smart Rating (documentaries
and TV movies weren’t included).
A Smart Rating is a score out of 100
that takes into account a movie’s
Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer
and Audience Score, IMDb rating,
Metacritic Metascore, Gracenote
rating, and its inflation-adjusted
US box office gross.
Of course, with an almost 40-
year career and over 50 feature
films, there are bound to be some
that shine over others. Streep’s
penchant for movie musicals, for
example, including Mamma Mia!
and Into the Woods, were nowhere
near the Oscar-caliber work, she is
known for. However, the actress’s
versatility certainly is one of her
main strengths. •
Vaani Kapoor is all set to make
her comeback, after making her
Bollywood debut with Maneesh
Sharma’s 2013 film Shuddh Desi
Romance, which also featured
Parineeti Chopra and Sushant
Singh Rajput.
The actress is hoping big with
her second Bollywood outing,
Befikre, which is directed by
Aditya Chopra and also stars
Ranveer Singh. The minute film’s
first look came out, it instantly
grabbed everyone’s attention and
became the talk of the town.
It was in 2013, when she
got noticed for her debut
performance in Shuddh Desi
Romance, but it took Vaani
Kapoor nearly three years to bag
another Hindi film, something
which did not bother her much.
Post her debut with the Yash Rajbacked
romantic-comedy, Vaani
featured in the Telugu remake of
Band Baaja Baarat, titled Aaha
Kalyanam in 2014.
Now with just few days to go
for her film’s release, the actress
broke her silence and finally
addressed the rumours. The
actress laughed off the rumours
about her getting a lip and chin
surgery by saying that she isn’t
rich enough to afford a surgery
as such. “I just can’t go through
such tiring process and the pain,”
said Vaani in an interview. Vaani
also said that her weight-loss
changed her body structure, as
it is supposed to. “I lose weight
so obviously my jaw and face
looks different now. My frame
looks different and I am sure
audiences will be able to reason
the change,” Vaani added. •
