Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive
an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you
are serving. - Colossians 3:23-24
Thanks for being here today. When we step up to serve and
contribute in God’s church, we end up receiving more than we give.
In more ways than we can imagine. That’s the way God has designed
it. So, I believe you’re in for a real blessing!
Today you will learn about the important role you play in our church.
Whether it’s through volunteering on an eTeam or leading an
eGroup, God has brought you to this place, at this time, for a reason.
“So that people far from God will be raised to life in Christ.” That’s
why our church exists.
And together, we all get to use our God-given gifts to help people
and glorify Jesus.This is what it means to be the body of Christ.
There’s nothing like it.
I have a friend who says, “Great churches aren’t built on the gifts and
talents of a few, but on the sacrifice of many.” That is certainly the
story of Elevation Church. Faithful people - with willing spirits - doing
the work of a faithful God.

OUR BELIEFS
Although Elevation Church’s culture is modern, our theology is
traditional. We believe that every weekend is a rescue mission
to reach people who are far from God and while this is not
a membership class, it’s important to know what we believe,
because it is the foundation of everything we do.
THE BIBLE:
The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human
authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Because God inspired it, the Bible is truth without any error and is
completely relevant in our daily lives.
THE TRINITY:
God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He
exists as one substance in three persons: The Father, the Son
and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves
different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.
THE FATHER:
God is great. He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present,
unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, He is
holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good. He is
our father. He is loving, compassionate and faithful to His people
and His promises.
THE SON:
Jesus Christ is completely human, but at the same time
completely God. He is the only plan for bringing people far from
God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect
life so that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s
demands for perfection. He defeated death in His resurrection so
that we could have life.
THE HOLY SPIRIT:
His presence assures us of a relationship with Christ. He guides
believers into all truth, and exalts Christ. He convicts people of
their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He
comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

ETERNITY:
Man was created to exist forever. He will exist eternally either
separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness
and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be
eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Both Heaven and
Hell are places of eternal existence.
MAN:
Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of
God’s creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God, but
became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience.
As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through
his own effort. Every human is uniquely created, possesses dignity,
and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
SALVATION:
The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way
of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when
people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as
sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God and it
cannot be earned through our own efforts.
THE CHURCH:
The Church is a local community of believers unified through faith in
Christ. We are committed to the teachings of Christ, to obeying all of
His commands, and to bringing the Gospel to this world. The Church
works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of
glorifying Christ.
BAPTISM:
Baptism is a symbolic act to publicly profess one’s salvation. God
commands it, but our salvation does not rely upon it. We practice
full-immersion baptism, symbolizing the process of death and
resurrection that Jesus went through for us.
PRAYER:
Prayer is our ability to communicate with God. Through Jesus’
salvation, we no longer need an intercessor to go between God and
us; we can address Him directly.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
WHERE DID THE NAME ‘ELEVATION’ COME FROM?
Our name is a reflection of our desire to elevate people in their
relationship with God; to find them where they are and help them
grow. Our logo symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
WHAT DENOMINATION IS ELEVATION?
We are a part of the Southern Baptist Convention. Pastor Steven
Furtick holds a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary.
HOW CAN I GET BAPTIZED AT ELEVATION CHURCH?
We believe baptism is the outward expression of the inward decision
to put your faith in Jesus. We have baptisms throughout the year.
In order for children to be baptized, they need to go through an
interview process with a staff member to help make sure they
understand the act. You can let us know you are interested by filling
out the online form at elevationchurch.org/baptism.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
CAN I SEE THE CHURCH’S FINANCIALS?
Yes. Our audited financials and Annual Report are available online
at annualreport.elevationchurch.org.
WHAT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY IS IN PLACE?
Elevation Church strives for the highest level of financial
accountability. We have a Board of Overseers that approve our
annual budget, all staff compensation, capital expenditures, and
all debt. We hire an independent certified public accounting firm
to conduct our annual audit. Elevation Church is accredited by
the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA), an
organization that provides accreditation to “leading Christian
nonprofit organizations that faithfully demonstrate compliance
with the ECFA Standards pertaining to financial accountability,
fundraising and board governance.”
GETTING INVOLVED:
HOW DO I START PARTICIPATING?
We encourage everyone to participate in the 4G’s:
GROWTH: Invite people who are far from God so that they may be
raised to life in Christ.
GIFTS: Use the gifts and talents that God has given you to serve as a
volunteer on an eTeam.
GROUPS: Join an eGroup where you can develop relationships as
you apply God’s word to your life.
GIVING: Contribute financially to the mission of our church
beginning with 10% of what God has given you.

OUTREACH MINISTRY:
WHAT IS ELEVATION CHURCH DOING TO HELP
THE COMMUNITY?
When people give to Elevation Church, 12% goes directly to
support outreach efforts. Rather than start our own soup kitchens,
food pantries, and shelters, we partner with nonprofit organizations
already serving in our city and around the world. We give them
our resources, time, and talents to help make them even more
successful. We also host an annual LOVE Week, and several LOVE
Weekends throughout the year where we concentrate volunteer
efforts on needs in our communities.
eTEAM MEMBERS:
DO YOU DO BACKGROUND CHECKS?
Yes. We do background checks on all adult eKidz volunteers and
many of our other volunteer roles as well.
HOW OFTEN DO I VOLUNTEER?
Frequency will depend on the role and area you serve in. However,
the majority of volunteers serve on an every-other-week schedule,
for a period of six months, followed by the opportunity to evaluate
and recommit for another season.
WHAT IF I AM INTERESTED IN LEADERSHIP?
We encourage everyone to maximize the potential God has placed
inside of them. Contact your eTeam leader or your campus staff to
talk about leadership opportunities.

WHAT IF I WANT TO FIND A NEW VOLUNTEER ROLE?
We understand that new volunteers may need to try a few options
before they find the best fit and we are committed to helping you find
your sweet spot. If you want to try a new eTeam, it is important that
you talk to your current eTeam leader to make a good transition. We
will work as hard as we can to find you a new role.
WHAT IF I HAVE A SCHEDULING CONFLICT?
When a volunteer has a conflict, they are to communicate their
situation to their eTeam leader. Because every volunteer role is vital in
creating a great atmosphere for our guests, we ask volunteers to find
a replacement if they are unable to serve.
