Firstly, I want to say ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘Welcome’ to the 1st Edition of the
KCC Magazine. I am excited to be putting this magazine together for you all.
We are going for a whole new fresh updated look and lots of new features. Changes
to the KatsCardCreations website have already begun, with a new Premier
Members area to get your hands on those all exclusive designs and freebies.
We plan on packing this newsletter with offers, codes, reviews and interviews and
information; on not only new upcoming designs but getting to know who we are
behind the scenes.

For those of you that do not
know me,
I’m Kat; am I a crafter?
No, not at all.
There are many things I like
a b o u t t h e c r a f t i n g
community, the people for
one, well in my groups and
people I have met and got to
know over the years have
been wonderfully supportive
and kind. I find so many
crafters do not do what they
do for money (oh that’s just
funny to even think it could
happen), but normally for
others, many I have got to
know produced and make
time to create for others,
whether as gifts or to raise
funds and awareness for
charities and good causes
around the world. So, how
do I see myself. I’m not
sure, I am very much an
artist, a designer, it is what I
was trained to do; going into
teaching art & design to
children and adults; but time
has proved that I very much
do this for others. Starting
out very small, just wanting
to create some designs for
what started out as a small
Saturday art club for
disadvantaged children. I
was soon spotted and my
talent for paper craft
realised, and things grew
from their, not only my
popularity and following,
but also what I can do for
others. I expanded my skill
set and my my childrens
club, also sharing it with
others that appreciate the
time and effort that goes
into everything I do.
As time has gone on,
crafters still have their little
things that they chit chat
about and discuss… Me, I
kinda just sit in the corner
waiting for someone to ask
why I’m not working on
something.

We love creating!!
Earlier this year I came across a
cute website aimed at crafters
and scrapbooking; being neither,
as usual I flip through with the
expectation of finding the usual
things; however, there was so
much more! Not only a vast selection
of goodies; but at awesome
prices. Actually, it was the
prices that really caught my eye;
not only on the items we expect
such as dies and tape; I found
the great prices on our machines,
as well as the overly

I am Jen. I live in Ohio, in the
USA. I am 43 years old. I have 2
boys, 17 and 13, we live on a
farm in the country and have
every sort of animal you can
imagine. I am a college educated
O c c upational T herapy
Professional, and worked in that
profession for 21 years. Then I
suffered a massive stroke from a
ruptured aneurysm in my brain
and was severely disabled for
quite sometime; but, being
stubborn, I was determined to be
me again or as close to it as
possible.
I had to give up the job I loved,
but had no say in that matter.
So, I sat, looking at 4 walls for a
year, then thought, ‘Well, let's
get on with it!’ I took what little
money I had left and decided to
buy something that would allow
me to be creative. I had to pick,
between the ScanNCut or the
Silhouette Cameo; I studied
them for months because it was
the last of my money, as I
bought my boys everything they
needed already. I finally settled
on the SnC after watching that
Julie chick!
‘Oh my lord!’ I got it, tried to
use it and I hated it! I sat there
and cried! Thought “What did I
do?!! What an idiot I am, just
spent all of my money on a
piece of crap machine! “Canvas
is terrible, error this, error that,
nothing works, and everyone
wants to be paid to help me!
YouTube Videos ?? They just
went in circles, not telling me
what I needed, an hour long and
I still didn’t know anything!
That was it, I was putting it up
for sale or smashing it! I had to
sell it for what I could and buy a
Silhouette Cameo!
Then someone contacted me,
said “Jen, you own one of those
ScanNCuts don't you?” I said
“Unfortunately, why?”
They suggested, SCAL4 is
coming out, try it! So I
did….and now how I love my
Scan’N’Cut and I had to tell
everyone! I wanted to climb up
on a mountain and yell! So, I
joined Rachels group. That
helped, but I soon realised that I
needed my own group. I was
mad at how I was treated in the
beginning, and I did not want
anyone else to go through all of
that malarkey, the ‘pay me’,
‘gimme all your money’, for
basically nothing.
So I began a group that allowed
me to teach people how to use
the program and how to use
their ScanNCut, but, more
importantly, how to be nice to
each other and to themselves at
the same time. It is very hard to
get 12,400ish group members to
be nice, but it happens, and it is
wonderful! I now have my main
group, ScanNCut, Canvas and
SCAL Help and then 3 new user
groups. One for: Canvas, SCAL
and then Embroidery, where
new users can go for the classes
that I have started. These
classes are ground breaking,
because they are free and start
at the very beginning, and then
build on each subsequent
lesson. These are vital to a new
users ability to correctly lay
down memory paths on
functional uses of each
program. So, this is very
exciting as you can see yourself
learning. I also provided my
members a little store, where sell things at cost, because I
know how it is to not have the
means but to have the wants!
I have a YouTube Channel
‘ScanNCut JAM Sessions’,
where I do short education
videos on techniques and have
started doing weekly projects
with members. Also, I do
custom videos, based on
member requests; to help them
get through specific issues they
may come across with their
projects.
Being able to help people just
gives me so much joy, I simply
cannot put it into words; but I
guess when you truly have lost
everything, including nearly
your life and you have to start
all over, when you feel every
single thing has been taken
away; except your children &
life; and you begin to think you
have nothing to look forward to;
Well now, just take a deep
breathe, and as you hear that
door close, do not be afraid of
that darkness, for the light will
soon come and it shines
brighter, more wild than ever
before.
This I do know. Life truly is
Beautifully
Wonderfully
Amazing!

Hi there! My Name is Rachel, I'm the Creative Designer for
Cards at Kat's Card Creations!
I first found Kat's designs through a mutual friend in the cutting
machine world and when I was told that she was looking for a
designer, I jumped at the chance to apply for the position and
take my card making to another level. As the designs are amazingly
beautiful, with so many ways you can really make them
shine, and I'm always excited about trying new things.
Along with her gorgeous model designs, Kat also makes simply
stunning card designs, to make greetings cards for all occasions -
you can make these with any skill level, as long as you can work a
cutting machine, embellishing as much or as little as you wish.

wording, most designs can be used for any occasion.
As a pretty much full time card maker, I rose to the challenge
of working with Kat's designs. This sometimes starts with helping
with ideas for new cards that she is making, and evolves
into testing designs to make sure everything will work as it
should for the customer and then creating finished cards to
showcase her designs in the best way possible.
I love to make hybrid cards, using my cutting machines; I work
on both a Brother Scan'n’Cut and a Silhouette Cameo, also my
die cutting machines to create the card and embellishments.
Along with the cut files, an important thing to remember is
making sure you have quality cardstock to use and plenty of
bits and pieces to embellish!

The Pink House Project
On the corner of West State Street and South Brooklyn Avenue in
Allegany County, NY stands the beautiful but odd Victorian mansion
known as the "Pink House", created by E.B. Hall for his
wife.
Now owned by the Woelfel Family. I am pleased to say that I am
in contact with movie director Jay Woelfel and have shared emails
and photographs of this beautiful house, as it is to be a created by
myself , along with several other attached buildings unseen by the
general public.
Now, a ghost story about the Pink House…. Although no modern
day accounts of any supernatural activity exist but the history of
the house prevails, keeping it one of those places that children will
take care to cross the street when they get near it. The hauntings
have not been verified but the two deaths that did occurred there
are factual and do have all the hallmarks of a great ghost story.
The story starts in 1957 and involves a pretty young blond girl
named Frances Farnum who was engaged to E.B. Hall, the man
who built the pink house.
Sadly, Frances was not in love with Mr. Hall, but was in love with
"Paul" whom her rich father thought was not good enough
(meaning not rich enough) for his daughter.
He forbid his daughter to see him again. Furious and vowing to
make himself worthy of Frances, Paul set off to law school and the
couple wrote to each other and kept their love strong.
Unfortunately, Frances father found out about this and forged a
letter to both of them stating neither one of them wanted anything
to do with the other, so when Paul came home on holiday from
school and passed Frances on the street without looking at her or
speaking to her, her heart broke.
Within a few weeks she married E.B. Hall and settled into a loveless
marriage for the financial purposes of her father.
The two men were very happy but Frances was so devastated, she
committed suicide. The story diverges here. Some say she
drowned herself in the fountain on the property, others say she
died in the nearby gristmill.
Wither way, the grief-stricken girl died an unhappy soul that
was unfulfilled and cheated in life. Anyway, it would seem that
Mr. E.B. Hall wasn't too upset by his wife's demise because he
married her sister Antoinette shortly after.
When they returned to the Pink House after their honeymoon,
they brought a small daughter with them.
When the child was about two years old, she drown in the fountain,
much like her dead aunt had. Legend has it that the spirit of
Frances was angry that her husband had remarried so fast, she
took her vengeance out on the child.
After a few more years, Antoinette had another child and fearing
the spirit of her sister would harm this child as well, she
decided to make a bedroom in the tower room of the house. In
the window, was placed a candle that was never to burn out.
All servants were instructed to keep the candle burning at all
times to keep the candle lit. To this day, although replaced with
electric lights now, the light remains in the tower window.
And so the stories go. Two deaths, unrequited love, vengeful
spirits and a beautiful poem. I think it's a good story.
