ACHIEVEMENTS, HIGHLIGHTS, SUCCESSES
Rixton-with-Glazebrook Pre-school children are enjoying
gathering and chatting on their new outdoor decking, picnic bench
and beanbags. In July there was not a dry eye in the house as children
performed songs and dances followed by a leaver’s presentation that
looked back at their time at Pre-school. The staff wish them all the
best for the future. To find out more about Pre-school places - see
p.10 for contact details.
St. Helen’s Primary School staff were very proud of their pupils at
the end of term performances as Key Stage 2 children entertained
audiences with their play ‘School Days - the best days of our life’,
and Year 6 led a moving and meaningful church service in which they
shared their memories and hopes and dreams for the future. The staff
wish the school leavers every future happinesss and success.
School continue to offer a range of after school activities including
Choir on Mondays; Ethos Groups on Tuesday; Fusion Dance Classes
(see p.10) and Contact Rugby for Years 3-6. Recently some Key
Stage 2 children took part in Fencing classes before school on
Tuesday mornings which were very popular, even though it meant
an early 8am start! Children in Y5 received Bike Ability training
recently to learn how to be safe on the road. Football and sports
coaching sessions continue thanks to the generous funding from the
Hamilton Davies Trust (HDT). In the autumn term HDT also helped
school organise a litter pick and a Drugs Awareness talk - see p. 7.
School have recently signed up to Twitter – you can follow them on
Members of Hollins Green Sequence Dancing classes spent an
enjoyable weekend in Llandudno and are looking forward to their
forthcoming dancing break in St. Annes in February 2017.
Over 40 Friends of Hollinfare Cemetery volunteers enjoyed an
evening get together at Boysnope Golf Club in October. The Friends
group has now been operating for six years, during which time
many friendships have been formed. Due to ongoing improvements, the
cemetery received the Green Flag Award for the fourth year running.
