There was a boy named Seb. He came from a rich family and has everything
a kid could ask for but he was sad because his parents will be gone for a
month due to their business trip.

He was unhappy because he doesn’t have friends and was living only with his
nanny. He waved his parents goodbye but they just ignored him and left.

After his parents left, he decided to just play and spend the day outside. While
he was playing, he saw a dirty small dog and ran towards it.

Seb felt pity so he went inside to give the dog some food. He pet the dog and
instantly felt happy because of its cuteness.

For the following days, he went outside to give the
dog some food for every meal. He loved the dog and
chose to adopt and keep him instead.

Every day, after school they will play outside. Running and rolling
around their backyard.

For the first time in his life, Seb felt the joy and love that his parents can’t
give. He forgot about the material things like his remote control cars but gave
all his attention to his new found friend.

One afternoon, they visited a nearby
volleyball court and saw a bunch of
girls playing. A girl shouted “Spike!” then
all of a sudden, his dog barked loudly
and continuously.

He smiled and looked at the dog.
“From now on, you are Spike, my best
friend Spike.” Then he ruffled its fur.

That night, his nanny
checked on Seb and saw
that his pet was sleeping
beside him. She saw that
the dog brought happiness
to the kid especially when
he said that the name of
the dog was Spike.

As she was about to approach Seb,
the phone rang so she walked
downstairs. On the other line was Seb’s
parents.

In the morning, Spike licked Seb to wake
him up and get ready for school.
While eating breakfast, his nanny sat
beside him and said,
“Bunso, your parents are coming
home.”.

Instead of being happy, Seb was
saddened by the fact that his parents
were coming home. He’s thinking whether
they will accept Spike or not.

The next day, he was awakened by Spike’s barks and his parents’ shouts. He
immediately got on his feet, run downstairs and check on what’s happening.
There, he saw his parents were mad and the floor was covered in Spike’s
muddy footprints.

“Why did you let that dirty dog enter our house?!”, his father yelled.

“His name is Spike. He’s not just a “dirty dog.” Maybe he played in the mud.”,
Seb explained. Still, his father was angry and sent the dog out.

That night, rain poured and there were lightning and thunder. He heard spike
whimpering from outside so he quickly went to his parents and begged them to
bring spike inside.

At first, his parents hesitated but Seb was too determined to have Spike again.
The parents called Seb’s nanny and asked to get the dog.

Seb hugged Spike and thanked his parents. “Mom, Dad, can I just keep Spike? I
promise that he will be a great dog.”.

His parents approved and his dad walked
towards him and said, “Seb, we now know
that you have a big heart. This is just a
test and you proved that you can love
anything or anyone as a family.”. Seb
seemed to be confused.
His mom approached and hugged him and
told him, “Spike is our gift for you. You
made us proud and we are so happy for
you.”.

Seb was very happy when he finally understood everything. He hugged them all
and told Spike,
“You are the greatest friend I’ve ever had.”.
