Swinging Songwriters
8.15pm - 11.00pm, Friday, 3 February,
York House Centre, London Road, Stony Stratford, MK11 1JQ
Many songwriters have shown
themselves to be magnificent
wordsmiths and those who have
written tunes with a swinging jazzy
feel have heard them interpreted by
some of the great voices in popular
music. Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday,
Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughan, as
well as more recent singers including
Norah Jones, Madeleine Peyroux and
Corrine Rae Bailey have all made their
contributions, matched by the men,
of course.
Dirty Bizness are bringing you some
of those songs in their own swinging
jazzy bluesy style, with guests Sharon
Watson and Dick Clarke.
Doors Open:
7.30pm. The
friendly volunteer
York House
What is Steampunk?
You will have seen its influences in
productions such as Doctor Who and
Harry Potter films. Its roots lie in the
writings of HG Wells and Jules Verne
amongst others, who embraced the
possibilities of Victorian-invented
steam-powered machinery. Time
machines, earth core diggers, deep
space voyages – suddenly anything
was possible!
Like to know more? Why not go
along to a Stony Steam Lab session at
York House, Stony Stratford and see
for yourself!
