& Giving
Invest in nature with Canada’s
leading conservation charity.
Invest in Nature
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is Canada’s leading land conservation
organization, and has protected 2.8 million acres (more than 1.1 million hectares) of
natural habitat for the benefit of our children and those after them.
Investing in nature protects important species and habitats, sustains our economy,
and benefits the well-being of Canadians. Everyone, including the private sector, has
a role to play in addressing the environmental issues we face today.
By working together with corporate partners, the Nature Conservancy of Canada
achieves tangible results through our collaborative, science-based programs.
Join us in our Canadian conservation initiatives that are delivering global impact.

Corporate Sustainability
As the owner and manager of more than 1,100 properties across
Canada, the Nature Conservancy of Canada is in a unique
position to help companies achieve carbon, water, paper, and
habitat protection goals.
Carbon:
We sell carbon credits
generated from our 136,000-
acre (55,000-hectare)
Darkwoods Conservation
Area that may be used to offset
corporate greenhouse gas
emissions.
Water:
We replenish the amount of
water that your business uses
by protecting and restoring
critical freshwater habitats.
Paper:
We conserve critical forest
habitats based on the amount
of paper that your business
uses.
Habitat:
We can help balance your
company’s ecological footprint
and provide voluntary and
regulatory offsets by protecting
habitat.
Benefits of Corporate Sustainability:
• Results in co-benefits to biodiversity, communities, and
the economy, such as habitat for rare species, clean air,
water filtration, and more;
• Conserves natural capital;
• Tangible impact metrics for CSR reporting;
• Paper and water programs, as well as internationally
certified carbon credits, are auditable.
Partnership in action: TD Bank
As a statement in environmental leadership, TD has
made responsible paper use a priority. As part of this
commitment, the bank uses responsibly produced
forest products and monitors its paper use. For the
last five years, TD has worked with NCC to protect
critical forest habitat equivalent to the amount of
paper it uses. The forest properties TD has conserved
with NCC in Canada through this initiative have a
tremendous natural capital value (e.g., through the
capture of carbon, absorption of groundwater and
filtering of the air).
Benefits of Employee Engagement:
• Promotes team-building;
• Increases employee satisfaction through
personal impact;
• Strengthens retention;
• Improves recruitment; and
• Contributes to health and
well-being.
Partnership in action:
Audi Canada
In an effort to improve employee
engagement, Audi Canada implemented
an annual volunteer day for its staff. At
the inaugural event, 54 employees planted
9,900 plugs of native tallgrass, as a part of
NCC’s efforts to restore an agricultural field
back into a native tallgrass prairie habitat.
Employee Engagement
Providing employees with engagement opportunities
through volunteering, education and fundraising activities
delivers a meaningful and personal connection to
conservation.
Volunteer:
allows employees to leverage their impact and support
conservation.

Your corporate giving should align with your corporate
values. The Nature Conservancy of Canada works
closely with companies to identify their areas of
interest and to direct giving based on those interests.
Giving can be directed generally to NCC, or focused
on specific geographic areas, local communities or
on topics that relate to your corporate responsibility
priorities.
Benefits of Strategic
Philanthropy:
• Demonstrate support for conservation
and the environment;
