developing a master plan<br />

IMPROVING the liveability of<br />

Burnie is the main aim of a new<br />

master plan and investment strategy<br />

released for public comment<br />

by the Burnie City Council.<br />

The Burnie Town Centre<br />

Master Plan and the Settlement<br />

and Investment Strategy Review<br />

are key to driving the city forward,<br />

Mayor Anita Dow said.<br />

“The purpose of the Burnie<br />

Town Centre Master Plan is to<br />

deliver on the Making Burnie<br />

2030 objective to create an attractive<br />

place to live, work and<br />

play.<br />

“The Master Plan focuses on<br />

creating precincts within the<br />

CBD, delivering connectedness<br />

across the CDB and improving<br />

the liveability for Burnie through<br />

creating a vibrant CBD,” Ald<br />

Dow said.<br />

“The Settlement and Investment<br />

Strategy Review focuses on the<br />

long-term impacts of economic,<br />

demographic and housing challenges,<br />

and settlement patterns;<br />

and considers future plans for<br />

industrial activity, retail and commercial<br />

activity, tourism and hospitality,<br />

transport infrastructure<br />

and community infrastructure.”<br />

comment via the council until<br />

<strong>February</strong>, 24.<br />
