#12# 56 BIENNALE VENEZIA

We go back to our beginnings - the preview of the Biennale di Venezia. In keeping
with the largely visual spirit of the publication, this 56th edition of the Biennale di
Venezia Special Issue is organized as a photo journal of the countless events and
exhibitions we were lucky to cover during those intensive and rewarding days.
Some of these are part of the official program of the event, as national
participations or collateral events. We have also covered exhibitions outside the
official program which, concurring with the present edition of the Biennale,
contribute to the positioning of Venice as the global epicenter for contemporary
artistic crea- tion. All The World’s Futures showcases 136 Artists, of whom 89 are
exhibited for the first time at the Biennale. 89 National Participations are
exhibited in the pavilions at the Giardini, at the Arsenale and in the city of Venice.
44 Collateral Events, promoted by non profit national and international
institutions, present their exhibitions in various locations across Venice.
Therefore, not everyone who is anyone is included in this issue, but everyone on
it is a somebody.
Volvemos al punto de partida: la semana de previews de la Biennale di Venezia,
en esta ocasión en su 56 edición. En consonancia con el espíritu eminentemente
visual de la publicación, este número especial se organiza a modo de diario
visual-cronológico en torno a las innumerables exhibiciones y eventos que
tuvimos la ocasión de cubrir en esos intensos y gratificantes días. Unas forman
parte de la programación oficial del evento, bien como propuestas nacionales,
bien como eventos colaterales. Otras son exhibiciones fuera de la programación
oficial que, coincidiendo con la presente edición de la bienal, contribuyen a
posicionar sin duda alguna a Venecia como el epicentro mundial de la creación
contemporánea. All The Worl's Futures es un escaparate para 136 artistas, de los
que 89 lo hacen por vez primera en la Biennale. 89 Participaciones Nacionales se
reparten en los pabellones de Giardini, Arsenale y la ciudad de Venecia. 44 Eventos
Colaterales, organizados por organizaciones sin ánimo de lucro internacionales,
presentan sus propuestas en diversos emplazamientos a lo largo y ancho de
la ciudad. Por tanto, en este número no están todos los que son , pero sí que son
todos los que están.
