Happy February, Holualoa Ohana!
It's hard to believe that it already Mid Quarter and we are already well into the
second month of 2017. Our Holualoa School keiki are working hard. Here's
what's going on at Holualoa School.
-Holualoa students continue to work on improving reading ability and
skills. Students are decoding, blending, stretching, and clarifying questions
and answers about text in their reading classes.
-Holualoa School Students continue to develop math problem solving
strategies using our School-wide math program, Go Math.
-Students continue to use a variety of digital skills on laptops and computers,
including programs that help them type and even introduce t hem to
basic programming.
-Our students continue to explore gardening and science skills weekly outdoors
above the basketball court with our gardening teacher.
-Students continue to benefit from a variety of fun physical activities from our
P.E. teacher.
-Students continue to be excited to explore and check out books weekly at Mrs.
Aiona's library.
Holualoa Ohana, Mark your calendars!
Please join us at 8:30 on Friday, March 17th,
for our Spring Festival.
Holualoa School is pleased to announce that our Holualoa School Spring Festival
will be held before Spring Break this year. The festival will mark the coming of
Spring. The Holualoa Spring Festival has traditionally celebrated every year by our
young Holualoans.
Our theme this year is Ocean and Navigation. This festival coincides with the
Hokule'a's current trek across the Pacific.
Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Hale, Shaula Tualaulelei, Kumu Leialoha, Tammy Aiona,
Janis Prinslow, and Romel and her custodial team for coordinating the event.
For the HEALTH of it!
Thanks so much for making every attempt to keep the snacks
healthy this year!
Healthy food has been proven to help you live longer, stronger, and happier (no matter
WHAT our kids tell us). Healthy foods include fruits, veggies, nuts, and whole grains.
We continue to encourage students to build good lifelong habits. We would like our
students to avoid saimin, large quantities of chips, cookies, and sugar coated
cereals. These items may increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and organ
failure as our children get older. Sugar drinks and candy are not allowed as a snack to
take to recess.
Mahalo for helping us build great habits and for making every effort to see that your
child is well nourished! Look for healthy snack ideas on the website under parents tab.
who they are and where they come from before they venture into middle school.
