Moritz (Gospođinci 1875 – Banjaluka 10.5.1946) 934<br />

- Son of David, salesman, Hungarian Jew, married to Gizela (Herzl), and had sons<br />

Sigmund, Leopold and Fridrich.<br />

On February 3 rd 1900 he registered grocery store called Moritz Herzog in Banja<br />

Luka. 935 During 1907 paid taxes in amount of 3.340 Krunas. 936<br />

On July 5th 1940 the firm is registered as trade company with public members (father<br />

Moritz and adult sons Sigmund, Leopold and Fridrich), without written contract, situated in<br />

Kralj Aleksandar St. 2. 937 Company included trade with "colonial goods" (the old term related<br />

to goods imported from former colonies), groceries and delicatessen products, household and<br />

kitchen accessories, and selling premises were at the corner of Gospodska and Prince Pavle<br />

St.<br />

During the World War I he is assigned to work at general M.<br />

Kalszer u Banjaluka. From him, he retyped on typewriter<br />

Monography of Banja Luka from Beginning of Occupation to May<br />

1st 1914. 938<br />

He was the member of Supervisory Board i.e. Supervisory<br />

Council of the Bank for Trade and Crafts ( d.d. - shareholders ) in<br />

Banjaluka 939 , from January 18th 1930 was the member of Censor’s<br />

Board of the First Croatian Saving Bank (d.d. -shareholders), branch<br />

office in Banja Luka 940 , and on foundation assembly of the Union of<br />

Trade Associations for the Vrbas Banovina, held on November 10th<br />

1935 in Banja Luka, is elected for deputy member of Presidency. 941<br />

Moritz Herzog<br />

Because of trade business, he often travelled to Germany,<br />

Austria and Czechoslovakia. In application for issuance of passport,<br />

which he submitted on May 27th 1929 to the Head of District in<br />

Banja Luka, he stated he was "short, longish face, greyish hair, longish face, brown eyes,<br />

regular nose and mouth features , and that he travels for trade business". 942<br />

He owned a big house with restaurant in Gospodska St., house in Princa Pavla 1 St.,<br />

family house in Gajeva 6 St. and restaurant in St. Kralja Aleksandra 40.<br />

During 1932 he remodelled the shop window in the shop of his ground floor house in<br />

Kralja Alfonsa 2. Changes were projected and the remodelling work carried out by Petar<br />

Bucik, construction master from Banjaluka. 943<br />

In the statement of the trustee Abdulrezak Tetarić, given to the Ustashe Headquarters<br />

for Bosnian Croatia in Banja Luka on May 23rd 1941, was also given the list of items from<br />

Moritz Herzog’s shop. 944<br />
