The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Suncoast Chapter offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

• Applicant must reside within the SUNCOAST REGION that includes the State of Florida, the State of Louisiana, the Mobile–

Pensacola Market area and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and MUST plan to attend or currently attend an accredited

college or university in the SUNCOAST REGION

• Be a high school graduating senior or a college student with a declared major in Communications/Broadcasting

with a concentration in television.

• Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

• Submit an unofficial transcript.

• Submit a resume along with the application.

• Submit a one page bio.

• Submit an essay (250 to 350 words):

As an aspiring journalist, explain why you feel it’s important for journalists to refrain from expressing personal positions in

their reporting. - OR - With so many news media outlets available, how can one of them achieve the most positive impact?

• Letter of Recommendation: Please arrange to have one letter of recommendation from a faculty member

Please note: The letter should attest to character attributes such as integrity and leadership.

• Participate in a personal interview with Scholarship Committee members. Be prepared to give the name of the school

you will attend and the cost of your tuition.

All guidelines must be met to avoid disqualification.

The Suncoast Student Production Awards are online and the deadline is fast approaching! Our online process—Student Express—

makes it easier than ever to enter. The Award encourages the pursuit of excellence in video production and focuses public attention

on outstanding achievements produced by college, university and high school students. All entries will be judged against a standard of

excellence and will not compete with each other. NOTE: High School entries are judged separately from College entries. The scores

produced by these two panels are not combined; instead, the scores are interpreted separately for final “cut-off” evaluation. You’ll find all the

information you need to enter your work on the Suncoast Chapter website.

WILL BE IN HELD IN ORLANDO

Great news! We’re going back to Orlando! We had such an

overwhelming response to the awards last year, we’re happy

to announce that we are returning to the Rosen Centre Hotel.

This year’s Suncoast Regional Emmy® Awards will be

held on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Regional Silver Circle Award

The Regional Silver Circle Award recognizes individuals who are worthy of recognition for the quality of their contribution to

television in the Suncoast region of the State of Florida (except Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market), the State of Louisiana, Mobile,

Alabama – Pensacola, as well as, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico for a quarter of a century or more.

Silver Circle Award (local)

The Silver Circle Award recognizes individuals who have devoted a quarter of a century or more to the television industry, a

significant part of which was done in South Florida.

If you know of someone who meets the criteria to be recognized as a Silver Circle recipient, please contact Karla MacDonald,

Assistant Director, Fundraising & On-Air Marketing

WPBT2 is looking for a skilled leader with a passion for fundraising and production. Organized and driven, this individual will

oversee and manage the execution of all direct response initiatives and programs. Lead and grow all member stewardship

programs, create reports and analyze data to identify fundraising trends; will implement, streamline and improve fundraising

and cultivation initiatives on different platforms. Participation in determining strategies for on-air fundraising campaigns including

promotional, branding and messaging as well as special incentives and events. Provides guidance to the on-air producer. Assists

in the creation of pledge-related programming. Helps develop annual plan for all membership activities, manages budgets and

supports the Sr. VP of Development & Marketing. Leads and mentors membership staff.

College degree in Business, Marketing, or Public Relations or equivalent. Five years experience in membership, donor or client

acquisition and retention, direct marketing, fundraising (or related field) preferred. Two years of supervisory and project

management experience a must. Demonstrated ability in developing and managing campaigns and budgets. Excellent creative

and writing abilities a must. Ability to motivate, direct and empower a diverse staff. Works extended hours during on-air campaigns.

South Florida PBS has a terrific opportunity for the right candidate. We are seeking a Project Manager for our Information

Technology Department. The Project Manager will manage the overall planning, coordination, execution and completion of

database implementation and migration projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, related field or relevant experience. Project

Management Certification and/or Six Sigma Certification is preferred. Candidate must have demonstrated project management

experience, critical thinking, problem solving techniques and change management tactics. Experience with scope development,

scheduling, forecasting, resource planning, time and people management and strategic planning. Excellent verbal and

communications skills required. Strong problem-solving, analytical, evaluative and mechanical inclination skills. Ability to set

priorities in a stressful environment is a must.
