OUR CAUSE
The Y is a cause-driven
organization that strengthens
the foundations of our
community through youth
development, healthy living and
social responsibility.
Our community partners support the Y
because they know their funds directly
help us ensure that children and
families, regardless of their ability to pay,
can participate in vital YMCA programs,
such as teaching children safety around
water. The YMCA programs provide a
supportive environment where kids can
learn and grow to become strong, healthy
adults. Last year, contributions from
Community Partners enabled the West
Chester Area YMCA and Oscar Lasko
YMCA and Childcare Center to award more
than $760,523 in financial assistance to
2,955 families in our community.
OUR IMPACT
With more than 20,196 local members,
thousands of visitors through the Y’s
reciprocity program as well as brand
loyalty which spans over a century, we are
an organization that endures.

This featured outing raises critical
funds along the greens and aids
our commitment to West Chester.
This event helps fund the YMCA’s
Saturday Night Lights program,
which offers children and teens a
safe haven while having fun doing
activities such as shooting hoops,
playing games and swimming.

Our events demonstrate our
commitment to social responsibility
across the communities we serve.
From water safety courses to
health-centered activities on Healthy
Kids Day, these events help transform
the lives of children that take part, all
at no cost to the participants. Holidays
are a time of great cheer and shared
joy, but so many of the children in our
communities are not always able to
experience this in their home life. Our
holiday events are critical programs to
ensure that no child is excluded from
this festive time of year.

Our special events are for all, from
children to seniors with an emphasis
on building community.
Believe and Achieve focuses on improving
the lives and futures of children in need
by providing safe, supervised after school
care. Led by Y staff and community
volunteers, Believe and Achieve gives
kids mentoring, tutoring, healthy fun and
games, sports and swimming at the Y.
Fun and friendships are made during the
Y’s “Senior Prom” and Senior Fashion
Show. Senior programs keep seniors
active and engaged with the community.

CAMP & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
We unleash imaginations and open
children to worlds of discovery each
summer at our camps.
From theme weeks to fun in the pool,
we believe our campers gain more than
just the best summer ever. Kids build
friendships, learn respect for others
and themselves, and gain the
confidence to be who they are.
Our 7th Grade Initiative and Saturday
Night Lights programs give children
the chance to experience a
judgement-free space to connect
to others kids and strengthen their
bodies, as well as their values.

health and wellness program
developed and established in
partnership with the LIVESTRONG
Foundation to assist those who
are living with, through, or beyond
cancer to strengthen their spirit,
mind and body.
This 12-week program includes
cardiovascular conditioning, strength
training, balance and flexibility
exercises and is facilitated by
YMCA-certified instructors.
