Caring for Our Communities - VNA of Ohio Community Report 2016

4 | VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION OF OHIO Dear Friends, For Visiting Nurse Association of Ohio and for our community at large, 2016 was a year of many changes and challenges. In any organization, change is difficult. But our staff members continue to meet challenges head on. Through a combination of staff engagement and a focus on streamlining our systems, we’ve made big strides to continue to provide comprehensive, compassionate care for our patients. These internal shifts have helped us shine in the community. In June, we became MetroHealth’s preferred homecare provider, which has enabled us to serve even more patients in our community. We presented our Annual Forum in September on the impact of integrated care. In the same month, we had a large presence at MetroHealth’s panel discussion on diversity in healthcare. The response to the distinguished panel was overwhelmingly positive. We also hosted two fundraisers in June and October to support clinical education for staff and our music program, which we launched in 2015 in partnership with The Music Settlement. We’re now entering our 115th year and we are proud and eager to serve the same community that 13 pioneering women set out to care for in 1902. We couldn’t do it without you – our friends and supporters. Thank you. Jim Schaum Interim Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Madigan, PhD. Board Chair 365 Days of Caring
