Artist Tony Mariosa

Artist Tony Mariosa About me From an early age wildlife and art became a true passion. I grew up on Exmoor in a hamlet called Brendon not far from the well known Lynton & Lynmouth. I would forever wander across the moors, venture into the woods and spend hours exploring the shores and rivers. Captivated by the wonder and beauty of the natural world around me, I would spend countless hours drawing animals from books. From childhood being surrounded by wildlife became an integral part of who I am today. After secondary education I pursued my career in carpentry & joinery becoming fully qualified. Having learnt my trade, I soon became aware that commercial construction was not an environment that enabled me to utilise my artistic flare to its full potential. I made the decision to become self employed and to use my creative skills in my bespoke woodwork which has reignited my passion for art. This rekindled passion has encouraged me to fully concentrate on my artwork. With influence from natures beauty it's effortless to find inspiration for my next drawing. Thoughts on wildlife The natural world creates a true spectacle and my aspiration is to capture its wonder. The diversity of life on Earth is not only wondrous, but is essential to our survival on the planet. - Tony Mariosa “Tony Mariosa is a wonderful new talent who captures his subjects with intricate detail while revealing a clear essence of their personality” tonymariosa@hotmail.com 07752 202440 Facebook: @tonymariosaart Randy Glass - award winning, internationally renowned artist 46 Countryside, History, Walks, the Arts, Events & all things Devon at: DEVONSHIRE magazine.co.uk

‘Skomer Puffins’ - 45x45cm ‘The Old Stables - Swallows’ - 30x40cm BIRD MAN Capturing the beauty of birds in oil paintings East Devon artist Neil Cox has a singular talent for depicting birds in their natural settings. This is not his exclusive focus, for he is also a fine landscape painter, placing particular emphasis on the coast and valleys in and around South Devon. ‘Goldfinch’ - 28x23cm But his paintings of birds truly capture the spirit and soul of each species. This is enhanced by his skilful treatment of the typical surroundings in which the composition is set. Look, for example, at the exquisite treatment of the rusty hinges adjacent to the swallows. Marine House at Beer has worked with Neil for several years and seen the steadily increasing popularity of his work as people find themselves entranced by his imagery. Neil’s love of birds and his desire to capture a moment in their lives produces oil paintings of the highest quality. ‘Wrens’ - 21x28cm A selection of Neil’s work is on display at Marine House and on our web site. He has an international following with exhibitions in Switzerland, Sweden and several galleries across the USA. In additions his work has been successfully auctioned at Sothebys and Christies. ‘Kingfisher on the River Otter’ - 40x20cm ‘Sunny Evening River Sid’ - 30x30cm Fore Street, Beer, EX12 3EF info@marinehouseatbeer.co.uk 01297 625257 marinehouseatbeer.co.uk hubcast .co.u k 47
