The News! Parent Information STRIDE Project 2017 Y5/6 boys had the opportunity to work with the STRIDE project 2017, a project that encourages boys to take part in dance. To further develop this, we are now encouraging the boys to attend the Try-out session in Rochdale on Monday 20th Feb 1-3pm at M6 Theatre - as we would very much like them to have the opportunity to perform a dance in the new Adelphi building at University of Salford alongside other young men from Greater Manchester. Please ask Miss Day for more details if your child is interested. PE Kit It is a common recurrence that children do not have their PE kits available in school for their lessons. PE is part of the curriculum and we are asking all parents to ensure pupils have their kits in school. Thank you. Glasses We would appreciate your co-operation in ensuring that, if required, your child brings their glasses to school every day. SCHOOL SHOES Please wear black shoes, no boots or trainers. EARRINGS It is the school policy that children are not allowed to wear earrings during the school day for Health & Safety reasons. Sunshine Day and Coffee Morning Our next ‘Sunshine Day’ will take place on Friday, 17th February. The theme for the day will be ‘Prevent’. The children will be learning about safe environments and how to have debates around controversial issues and how to manage difficult situations. We would welcome any ideas of things to share with the children. We are inviting parents and carers into school to share a coffee morning with us on this special day. Please join us between 9.00am and 10.00am for coffee and cake.
The News! Parent Assemblies Y3/4 Parent Assembly Thank you to all those parents who attended their child’s parent assembly on Wednesday 8th February. This was enjoyed by both children and parents. Once again thank you as always for your continued support. Y1/2 Parent Assembly Robinwood Thank you to all those parents/carers who attended our Robinwood introduction evening. The children in Year 4 and Year 5 have now come home with a deposit letter and this needs to be returned to school as soon as possible as this is a first come first served basis. We hope you agree this is a fantastic opportunity for your child to enjoy an adventure weekend. Picnics in Reception Reception class discovered a picnic and a scooter left on the playground this week. We investigated and found lots of picnic items that we think belong to a monster named Boris. We have been talking about healthy and unhealthy foods that we can take on a picnic and writing lists so we can have our own class picnic. We have had lots of fun following instructions to make our own sandwiches for our picnic. Thank you to all those parents/carers that attended their child’s parent assembly on Wednesday 1st February. I am sure agree it was wonderful and the children enjoyed your company. Thank you as always for your continued support. Kentmere Academy’s Mini Stars! On Wednesday, some of our Year 1 & 2 children took part in a Mini Stars competition at Wardle Academy, along with 16 other schools. They had a great time and represented our school very well. We are all extremely proud of them!
