HLF Review 2016

Sunday, September 18

Sunday, September 18 Welcome Welcome to Heidelberg An assemblage of some of the most innovative and brightest minds in mathematics and computer science in the world converged at the Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF) for the fourth successive year. With young researchers from over 50 nations in attendance, the vitality of the scientific network was not in question. Participants immediately began taking advantage of the HLF’s founding principle: discourse paves the path of development. As the enthusiasm of the young researchers blended with the avidity of the laureates, the dynamic ambience set the tone for the remainder of the Forum. Scientific Partners of the HLFF Reasons for excitement were planted even prior to the Opening Ceremony: the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF) was officially joined by two vigorous Scientific Partners in the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS) and Heidelberg University. A contract signing between the organizations in the Neue Aula made the partnership official. from left to right: Prof. Dr. Bernhard Eitel (President of Heidelberg University), Prof. Dr. Andreas Reuter (Scientific Chairperson HLFF), Beate Spiegel (Chairperson HLFF), Dr. Gesa Schönberger (Managing Director of HITS), Prof. Dr. Rebecca Wade (Scientific Director of HITS) 60
