HOUSEWARES GLOSSARY OF TERMINOLOGY OATS OATS – Only At The Show. Orders must be placed at the show in order to take advantage of discounts and offers under this scheme. DRIVE LINES Products specifically negotiated for the crucial main sale periods (summer and winter). These products are usually exclusive to AIS members. Sometimes the exclusivity is only the special price. However, most offers are totally exclusive to AIS for that period. SUMMER SIZZLERS (SPRING SHOW) Seasonal, promotional offers for selling around May and June – ready for summer. CHRISTMAS CRACKERS (AUTUMN SHOW) Seasonal, promotional offers for selling around October and November. Ideally products that are gift boxed – easy for men to wrap! CORE RANGES (ONGOING OFFERS) Core ranges are ranges and products which AIS has committed to financially on behalf of the membership to gain extra margin and exclusive offers. Many of these are import lines available via AIS Trading. Some lines like the Wax Lyrical candles are offered in partnership with our Cenpac suppliers. For others, where we need really strong ongoing prices, we use AIS Trading. For example, Bodum and Pyrex are now stocked by AIS Trading. Many ‘Core Ranges’ are used as Drive Lines during the main sale periods but are also stocked as core basic stocks throughout the year. We have several ‘Core Ranges’ like Squito Yong that we endeavour to keep in stock throughout the year. We regularly update ‘Core Range’ import stock availability in our newsletters and membersnet. MONEY MAKERS (MM) REPLACING METRE MONEY MAKERS (MMM) We have been negotiating with our suppliers and decided that the Metre Money Maker scheme (MMM) scheme will now be replaced with Money Makers or MM’s. This scheme is easier to operate and still gives you the opportunity to receive extra discount off core range items. For example, Churchill will now offer 15% discount off all core items – 5% better than ever before. How Money Makers work: 1. The supplier will identify their best selling ranges. 2. Then from those ranges, the supplier will highlight the real best sellers. 3. The supplier will produce a best seller document for the designs selected. 7
