Big John’s hadn’t just arrived; it had driven a truck over all other competition within weeks. no business could cope with the sheer volume, discounting and energy that propelled this new business forward. if it was John’s giant personality and creativity that got the ball rolling, it was when he was joined by brother, Bob that everything clicked. not only do they own the Big John’s brand, they also own Shere khan’s and tipu Sultan indian restaurants and the brand spanking new oodle’n’oodle noodle Bar concept. as company they have always played the patient game. creating a fabulously popular brand like Big John’s cannot be done by any other way. Steady and annual growth has kept everything and everybody moving forward, till this point now. the Big John’s group has 30 stores, but the future beckons and our ambition to grow the group to a £50-£60m is approaching reality. DR MOHAMMED ALI OBE Founder and Chief Executive, QED-UK mohammed ali founded Quest for economic development an ethnic minority economic development agency. he has had experience of working with diverse communities in the Uk and participated in seminars and conferences in europe, canada and asia on ethnic minority education and employment integration issues. mohammed ali has won many accolades for his work with communities: professor handy’s alchemist award, finalist in lifetime achievement, principal of the Year categories of the Uk charity awards; and institute of directors award. in 1997, an honorary doctorate from Bradford University and in 2001 received oBe for his work with communities. S M KHALID Euro Quality Lambs S m khalid is the owner and chief executive of euro Quality lambs ltd - the largest muslim-owned halal lamb abattoir in europe. he was born in Samundri, faisalabad in 1952. a graduate in economics from the University of punjab, his thirst for further education led him to england in 1973. he later left for ireland to pursue business opportunities in the meat industry. he moved back to the Uk in 1992 to take over a troubled abattoir in Shropshire, west midlands, thus establishing euro Quality lambs ltd. mr S m khalid is hugely experienced in the meat industry and was part of the Uk Sheep Strategy council at the turn of the millennium. for the year to June 2012 total group turnover exceeded £50m. his philanthropic endeavours led to the establishment of euro Quality charitable trust in 2007 as a vehicle for business Zakah and other types of charity, with over £2.1m contributed to date.

DR SYED NAYYER ABIDI dr abidi is a British asian doctor & a health promotion Specialist. his area of interest is preventive medicine in public health and he has recently been honoured with an mBe by hm the Queen for his 12 years-long community health services. during 1998 -1999, he worked in the radiology department of north manchester General hospital as clinical assistant. in 2002, he launched the U.k’s first-ever bilingual (english/Urdu) book ‘prevention is always better than cure’.
