Celebrating our Silver

Celebrating our Silver Jubilee COMMUNITY 11, TEMA IMMANUEL METHODIST MEN’S FELLOWSHIP HISTORY OF IMMANUEL METHODIST MEN’S FELLOWSHIP COMMUNITY 11, TEMA. The Immanuel Methodist Church Men’s Fellowship was formed and inaugurated in the year 1992 when the church operated from a wooden structure on the premises of the old Methodist Day Secondary School (MEDASS) at Community 11, Tema. The Minister in charge at the time was Rev. John. K. Bassaw (deceased) who nursed the newly formed Immanuel Methodist Church and inaugurated it. Twelve (12) men formed the Fellowship with the late Bro. S.O. Lartey asits first Chairman from 1992 – 1996. In 1996, late Rev. John K. Bassaw was transferred to the Methodist Church Headquarters Accra. Rev. Thomas OsekuAfful then took over from the late Rev. John K. Bassaw. Our senior Men’s Fellowship brothers from the Bethel Methodist church, Community 8, Tema together with Rev. Afful provided the necessary guidance and support for the strengthening of the foundation of the Fellowship. In the latter part of 1999, Rev. John G. Bortey was transferred to Immanuel society while the church still operated from the Wooden Structure. With hard work, dedication and perseverance, a new Chapel was built and Rev. John G. Bortey moved the entire congregation at a time from the Wooden Structure to that beautiful edifice befitting the status of the Immanuel Methodist Church as a Society. Since the formation of the Men’s Fellowship in 1992, it has impacted positively on the church’s organization and development in the following ways: SUPPORT TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE SOCIETY. 1.-Leadership positions in the church: the Fellowship has the bulk of its members in the Leaders Meeting and majority of them are Class Book holders. 2.-The Fellowship has provided eight Society Stewards 54 IMMANUEL S O C I E T Y

In addition, the Fellowship continued to demonstrate good faith in honoring its financial obligations to the Connexion every year. 5.-The Fellowship purchased plastic chairs for the church’s Youth Hall and made conscious effort at keeping high the interest of the Youth in the Fellowship’s activities. By this association with the Youth, a lot of young men have joined the Fellowship .
