National Scholarships There are tons of national scholarships out there to apply for. Due to the competitiveness of these scholarships here are select few that may pertain to adult-learners. Scholarship for Women Who Are Mothers will offer a $1000 scholarship to one woman who is a mom who can best answer with an essay less than 750 words or a video no longer than 5 minutes: “What is your biggest challenge as a mother trying to get a degree? What can colleges and universities do to help you overcome this challenge and encourage other mothers to further their education?” Criteria: Deadline is December 31 st Have a yearly combined household income of less than $100,000 Plan to pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited U.S. college or university. No graduate school applicants will be accepted. Have NOT yet enrolled in a U.S. college or university and once enrolled, plan to start their first semester on or before October. Have never attended the college or university in which the scholarship will be applied. This scholarship is for first year and transfers students only. To apply for this scholarship for women, students must complete the myUsearch college match quiz and follow the instructions after the college search is complete. Top Ten List Scholarship The “Top Ten List” Scholarship is awarded by Criteria: Deadline is December 31 st To enter, beginning January 1 st , the student should submit a complete application online at The application must include name, contact information, background details, academic details, and a short, original, previously unpublished written response to the scholarship topic, “Create a ‘top ten list’ of the craziest or most unique scholarships you have heard of, and briefly describe each scholarship.” (The scholarships may be real or fictional.) The response must be in English, with correct spelling and grammar, and must not exceed 250 words. All applications become the property of the sponsor and will not be returned. The sponsor assumes no responsibility for lost, late, misdirected, or illegible entries. Limit one application per person. Five awards are given annually. $1,000 annually, non-renewable. 66

Each scholarship prize will be in the form of a check made payable to the accredited postsecondary institution of higher education attended by the scholarship prize recipient. Scholarship prize recipients must submit proof of enrollment on or before Dec. 31, 2014. Must be 13 years old or older at time of application Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. Must be a resident of one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia Must be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2014) in an accredited, postsecondary institution of higher education.
