ECCLR Committee work programme 13 February 2017 Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Committee Work programme The Committee regularly discusses its work programme for the coming months and will publish its agreed schedule here. You can also follow the Committee on Twitter @SP_ECCLR for advance information. In recent months, the main focus of the Committee’s work has been its consideration of the Scottish Government’s Draft Budget 2017-18 and a series of evidence sessions on Scottish Natural Heritage’s recent report on deer management in Scotland. Its focus during the first 3 months of 2017 will be its consideration of the Scottish Government’s draft Climate Change Plan. Current and future work The Climate Change Plan (formerly known as RPP3) The Scottish Government’s third draft report on its proposals and policies for meeting its climate change targets, now known as the draft Climate Change Plan, was published on Thursday 19 January 2017. The Committee will scrutinise the plan in collaboration with: the Local Government and Communities Committee; the Economy, Jobs and Fair Work Committee; and the Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee. Each Committee will report separately on its work before holding a joint debate in the Chamber in mid-March. More details on this work can be found on our dedicated webpage. Deer management The Committee is currently considering Scottish Natural Heritage’s (SNH) report to the Scottish Government on Deer Management in Scotland. As well as hearing from SNH it has also taken evidence from a range of stakeholders and received a number of written submissions. The Committee will report on its findings in the coming weeks. More details of this work can be found on our deer management pages. Wildlife crime The Scottish Government’s Wildlife Crime Annual Report is a requirement of the Wildlife and Natural Environment (Scotland) Act 2011. The Committee took evidence on the 2015 Annual Report at its meeting on 10 January 2017 from a range of stakeholders. The Committee is currently considering its response to the report. Review of the Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Act 2002 Lord Bonomy published his Report of the Review of the Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Act 2002 in November 2016. The Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform has since informed the Committee that the Scottish Government intends to consult or take forward many of the review’s recommendations during the course of the current parliamentary session. The Committee will nevertheless take evidence from Lord Bonomy on his findings and proposals for change at its meeting on Tuesday 28 March 2017. 1
