mokenamessenger.com life & Arts the Mokena Messenger | February 16, 2017 | 23 Booking a sale-boat cruise Friends of the Library bring in more than $2,500 in sales Submitted by Friends of the Mokena Community Public Library District The Friends of the Mokena Community Public Library District book sale was held Jan. 27 and 28 at the library. The book sale brought in $2,572, which exceeds the same sale held a year ago and the sale in the fall of 2016. Because of the success of this sale and the number of volunteers, the Friends of the Library are exploring extending the Friday hours for the next sale, which is to be held May 12 and 13. The Friends of the Library are currently conducting a membership drive for 2017, A look at the book sale’s extensive collection for purchase. and they enrolled 146 members. The benefits of membership include a free book at each sale and early entry into the sales. All of the revenue collected during the book sale is to be used to purchase items for the library. At the present time, the library asked that the Friends of the Library continue to build its balance for future purchases. At the conclusion of the sale, unsold books were donated to a local literacy program, two schools, two small libraries, three nursing homes, a resale shop and the Mokena Community Public Library District’s sister library in Virginia, Illinois. need a Doctor?
