Multi-Parish Knowledge and Prayer Series announces February program Submitted by Multi-Parish Respect Life Ministries The Multi-Parish Knowledge and Prayer Series recently announced February 2017 program: Protecting Catholic Health Care, Challenges WE Face. Assisted suicide, sterilizations, euthanasia, abortions, referrals, end-oflife counseling and care, birth control measures, IVF, and tax exemptions — are just some of the issues being mandated, ordered or recommended by government regulations. The programs posed the following questions: How do Catholic hospitals, Catholic doctors, nurses, and health care professionals comply with these mandates and remain faithful? How can Hospitals continue to provide care without violating their core ethical and moral standards? Will Catholic hospitals continue to even exist? Will health care professionals be forced to violate their consciences to continue practicing? These are just some of the issues the Rev. Michael Foley is to address at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at Our Lady of The Woods, 10731 W. 131st St. in Orland Park. Foley is a Chicago native who graduated from St. Laurence High School and Loyola University and University of St. Mary of the Lake’s seminary. He also holds multiple advanced degrees. Since being ordained in 1986, he has served as pastor and associate pastor in Hyde Park, Evergreen Park and Orland Park, becoming pastor at Our Lady of the Woods in 2012. The Knowledge and Prayer Series is sponsored by the Multi-Parish Respect Life Ministries of St. Francis of Assisi, St. Michael and Our Lady of the Woods parishes in Orland Park, as well as St. Bernard and Annunciation Byzantine Catholic parishes of Homer Glen.
