Deanshanger Sports Club celebrates its 50th year
The Deanshanger Sports Club has
started its 50th anniversary year by
announcing some top entertainment
including a range of tribute acts to
celebrate the milestone.
The club’s bar pulled its first pint
on 3rd May 1967, and fifty years
on it’s still one of the best value
pints around. Dave Hill, a stalwart
of the club who was instrumental in
getting the bar opened, passed away
in January. Dave, who played for
Deanshanger Athletic FC for many
years, will be sadly missed, and the
club committee will be looking to
commemorate his part in the creation
of the club later in the year.
Michael Jackson graced the stage in
January, while March sees Tom Jones
belting out the hits, before The Dung
Beatles go through the “Fab Fours”
songbook in May. Robbie Williams’
tribute is planned for later in the year
and all this is mixed with local bands
and children events, as the club is a
family venue.
The club is a members’ club, with
family membership going down to just
£5 for a whole year and £3 for singles
starting in September.
The Little London based club
is home to Deanshanger Athletic
Football Club’s three teams and the
Deanshanger Colts & Divas grassroots
club, so there is football to watch on
most Saturdays and Sundays.

A new running club for all abilities
In early February, 40 members of the
local community turned up to the
very first RunStony – a new group for
runners of all abilities, from absolute
beginners to the seasoned marathon
and ultra runners.
Within 3 weeks of starting, the
group has grown to 50 members,
taking part in weekly beginner, 5K and
10K runs.
Corinne Valor, Vikki Quinn,
Kimberley Chapman and Andrew
Metcalfe formed RunStony after
recognising a need for a running
club in the local area. Between them,
they have achieved some incredible
goals and have a wealth of running
experience. They all understand how
hard it can be to get started and stay
motivated. You can read more about

Whether your aim is to get fit,
lose weight, progress your running
distance, or just find other likeminded
people that you can run
with, RunStony could be just what
you need.
Your first RunStony run is free, so
pop along and give it a try. Thereafter,
membership is £10 per year, with
members getting discounts on
products and services from an evergrowing
number of local businesses.
RunStony currently meet every
Sunday on Millfield, Stony Stratford,
at 10.30am, with other running times
and sessions planned for the coming
