Dear friends,
Criticism of the pharmaceutical
industry as an organised system
of deception (see ’Der Spiegel’
magazine, 11.8.2003) and of the
investment industry, which is
operating the “billion dollar
business with disease”, has
become a national preoccupation.
There isn’t a newspaper
that isn’t printing high-profile
reports on the pharmaceutical
industry’s unscrupulous machinations,
a TV channel that isn’t
pursuing this theme, or a publishing
company without some
sensational anti-pharma book
on its list. The credibility of the
pharmaceutical industry has
plummeted to zero and health
reform, underpinned solely by
the pharmaceutical companies,
has long been a political impossibility.
Years ago, I was already one
of the first to pillory the
unscrupulous “business with
disease”. Six years ago, I stated
publicly: “We declare the pharmaceutical
industry, whose
business is based on safeguarding
the continued existence of
diseases, to be unethical and
irreconcilable with the fundamental
principles of human
rights. We demand immediate
legislative measures to prohibit
this industry’s business activities”.
Now my predictions are
becoming reality.
This gives rise to new tasks:
the development of a new
health care service that serves
the health interests of millions of
patients, and no longer the
profit interests of a handful of
pharmaceuticals shareholders.
Cellular medicine is the basis of
this new health care system. Cellular
medicine is cause-orientated
and for that reason alone
scientifically superior to merely
symptom-focused pharmaceutical
medicine. It is also for this
reason that the pharmaceutical
industry has been fighting me as
its arch enemy for over a
decade.
Highlighting the perilous state
of affairs was only a first step for
me. Now we are faced with a far
greater task: the development of
a new, patient-orientated health
system. In my series of lectures
in the autumn of 2003, I will
appeal clearly and directly to the
people of Germany, Austria and
Switzerland: We, the people of
Europe and the world, must
recognise that health is not a
human right that we can take for
granted, but that we must work
actively for it. Help us to
develop a new health system!

some years ago, in order to give
as many, mainly young, people

the opportunity to take part in
this global campaign to eradicate
cardiovascular disease and
other endemic illnesses. In addition,
the Dr. Rath Health Foundation
is working to promote
health policy framework conditions
for this historical process,
for instance by initiating a
Europe-wide referendum on
retaining the freedom to use
vitamin therapy.
