Energy-effi cient light

I-Valo manufactures indoor and outdoor luminaires for all kinds of

applications in factories, as well as in homes and public buildings.

I-Valo's services range from light planning to luminaires ready for

installation. The solutions are based on decades of experience,

active product development and modern production technology.

The operations are also controlled by standardised quality and

environmental systems.

Improved production technology has resulted in extremely durable,

energy-effi cient and easy-to-maintain luminaires. Planning and

implementing the most reasonable solution from the point of

view of the life cycle requires strong expertise. I-Valo is an expert in

lighting solutions.


• I-Valo Ltd was founded in 1971 to develop,

manufacture and market luminaires.

• The company’s product range comprises industrial

luminaires, as well as luminaires for homes and public

buildings.

I-Valo has manufactured luminaires since 1971. During

a nearly 40 year period, it has delivered thousands of

diff erent lighting solutions to all kinds of applications.

The starting point of the solutions to be implemented

is always based on customer need, and I-Valo's experts

plan all solutions with energy-effi ciency, appropriateness

and external appearance in mind.

Correct lighting contributes to well-being and is part

of a company's eff ective operation. I-Valo continuously

develops its products in cooperation with its customers

and partners.

I-Valo's modern production technology provides many

diff erent options and combinations by means of which

individual and creative packages can be tailored from

standard products at competitive prices.

Lighting systems are developing all the time. New

technology ensures more energy-effi cient and longer-

I-Valo has certifi ed quality and environmental

Thanks to our operating policy, our customers can

product is a safe solution, suitable for its purpose and

will function reliably for years.

The roots of I-Valo's luminaire design extend to the

famous Iittala glass factory, which is located only a stone's

throw away from the I-Valo factory. Design is an important

part of I-Valo's products and more and more emphasis is

placed on it. I-Valo's production plant is located in Iittala,

within the Hämeenlinna municipality. A signifi cant part of

production is exported around the world.


Energy-effi ciency for demanding

operating conditions

I-Valo wishes to off er its customers lighting solutions

with aff ordable life-cycle costs.

In the example below, the lighting level of Wibe

AB's factory in Sweden was almost tripled by

replacing the old luminaires with high-quality I-Valo

luminaires. Despite this, energy savings of 20% were

achieved. If the lighting level had been kept the

same, switching to I-Valo luminaires would have

generated a 60% energy saving for the customer. By

increasing the lighting level, the company achieved

better occupational safety and comfort in addition

to energy savings.

Filter technology

Filter technology and the highbay dust rims prevent luminaires from becoming dirty

and reduce maintenance needs. When these features are combined with a high light

output ratio (LOR) and an eff ective light source, there is no need to set the number of

required luminaires too high when calculating the lighting level of an application.

I-Valo's basic model is a closed, air-pressure tested luminaire equipped with an

eff ective fi lter that cleans the pressure equalisation air fl owing into the luminaire.

Thus, the inside of the luminaire remains completely clean. The metal dust rim

surrounding the front glass creates under the glass an air cushion that prevents

the glass from becoming dirty due to external impurities. Together, these

features ensure that the luminosity of the luminaire is maintained even in diffi cult

operating conditions.

Dust fi lter

I-Valo's lowbays, fl uorescent luminaires

and regular luminaires are equipped

with dust fi lters that fi lter dust particles

and impurities larger than 0.01 µm.

Double-eff ect fi lter

I-Valo's horizontal luminaires and

fl oodlights are equipped with a

double-eff ect fi lter. In addition to

dust, the double-eff ect fi lter also

fi lters caustic gases.

Goretex fi lter

The Gore fi lter fi lters water and dust

and eff ectively protects luminaires

from impurities.


Lighting planning

Familiarity with the premises and processes of diff erent branches

of business is a prerequisite for optimal lighting planning.

I-Valo's employees have strong experience in planning diff erent

demanding lighting projects for both indoor and outdoor spaces.

3D lighting plans

I-Valo uses the independent DIALux lighting planning

programme, which does not depend on luminaire

manufacturers and makes the visualisation of lighting

plans possible.

As a result of visualised lighting calculation results,

the eff ects of diff erent solutions and options are

easily evaluated. A CAD layout in DXF or DWG format

can be imported in the programme to facilitate the

placement of lighting-aff ecting fi ttings, process

devices, maintenance platforms, stairways, etc.

The results of a complete lighting plan can be

visualised in a 3D view at diff erent levels. The lighting

planning software can be downloaded free of charge

at www.dial.de

with customers in order to meet market requirements. Environmental friendliness

and a timeless design suitable for many diff erent buildings make I-Valo's luminaires

Pro luminaires

The design of the Pro luminaire series is suitable for homes and public

buildings and is ideal for both high and low spaces. Effi cient compact

fl uorescent lamps are used in the luminaires. The Pro luminaire series

consists of pendant luminaires, recessed luminaires, ceiling luminaires

and wall luminaires of diff erent sizes. The fact that Pro luminaires are

available with diff erent light distributions and controls means increased

versatility.

All Pro luminaires contain electronic control gears (HF) or

dimmable electronic control gears (HFDIM). Dimmable

luminaires are controlled by an analogue 1–10V DC

controller. Also available with dimmable digital ballasts.

Diff erent light distribution solutions of luminaires of the

same size have been implemented using diff erent diff users

or combinations of them that can be modifi ed even after

installation.

Pro luminaires are excellent for demanding lighting solutions

both together with and as individual luminaires.

The luminaires are suitable for general

and work-area lighting in public and

business buildings, as well as home

construction.

spaces, entrance halls, assembly

halls and other similar spaces. The

luminaires can be installed on pitched

ceilings without additional parts.

High light output ratios (LOR) and

diff erent light distribution alternatives

provide a solution for lighting needs

when diff erent suspension heights are

used and the purposes change. For

example, when equipped with a grey

honeycomb louvre, this luminaire can

be used to easily achieve glareless

lighting in required spaces.

Globe luminaires

The design of the globe luminaire with opal glass diff user is an absolute

classic in the luminaire world. Globe-shaped luminaires have been used

almost since the invention of the incandescent lamp and will continue to

be used as basic or decorative luminaires for all kinds of spaces, even when

incandescent lamps will no longer be in use. New and diff erent light sources,

new ballasts and materials only widen the range of use of the luminaire.

Among the features of a globe luminaire with opal diff user,

omnidirectionality is especially noteworthy. In most cases,

omnidirectionality can be seen as the uniformity of fl oor and

working surface lighting, as well as of wall or even ceiling

lighting. There are no strong luminosity diff erences that

disturb the eyes and vision is easier in all respects.

I-Valo's globe luminaires are available in four diff erent sizes,

two diff erent body colours and two diff erent suspension

types (rod and cable). The light sources used are compact

fl uorescent lamps equipped with electronic control gear

(also dimmable) and light sources according to the power

limitations and suitable for the E27 base.

The high light output ratio (LOR), classic

design style and durability of globe

luminaires make them an excellent

universal luminaire for new and

renovated buildings.

The luminaires are suitable for use in

dry spaces. Due to their design, light

distribution and materials, excellent

applications include, for example,

conference and meeting rooms, halls,

entrance halls, corridors, stairwells,

offi ces, bedrooms and living rooms,

working spaces and dining areas.

The luminaires consist of a body and a

frosted opal glass diff user suitable for it.

In each body model, the dimensions of

the dome arc have been adapted to the

diameter of the diff user belonging to

the luminaire.

Globe luminaires contain either an E27

lamp holder or an electronic control gear

and G24q3 lamp holders for 1 x 26 W or

2 x 26 W compact fl uorescent lamps. A

dimmable electronic control gear for

2 x 26 W with analogue 1–10 V DC

controller is also available as an option.

The models equipped with an E27

lamp holder (503, 532) are also highly

suitable for other light sources than

incandescent lamps (e.g., halogen

lamps with an E27 base, LED lamps and

Sol luminaires

The versatile and solid Sol luminaires, created in cooperation with Finnish

architects and electrical designers, combine classic shapes, correct size and

proportions, and are the right choice for demanding general lighting tasks. Sol

luminaires are half fl ush or surface mounted on either the ceiling or a wall. Sol

accessories belonging to the series provide diversity in external appearance,

add mechanical strength and, if necessary, facilitate installation.

These splash-proof and double-insulated luminaires made of

impact-resistant polycarbonate are suitable for both dry and humid

spaces (both indoors and outdoors). The body is available in white,

brass and chrome.

In the luminaire series, new additions are Sol 773 and Sol 782LED,

which have been developed especially for situations where the

luminaire has to be turned on rapidly and frequently and effi cient

lighting is required (e.g., for stairwells). The Sol 773 also functions

well in cold outdoor temperatures. Sol 782LED uses the latest light

source technology, which helps achieve low energy consumption,

good light production and long LED life. In addition, it is also

possible to turn the light on rapidly and frequently.

The accessories designed for the Sol series facilitate installation,

protect the luminaires and give them a new and stylish look

according to the needs of the diff erent environments of use.

Sol luminaires 780, 780W, 782LED

These Sol luminaires are effi cient and

versatile general luminaires made of

impact-resistant polycarbonate and

suitable for all kinds of buildings. For

Sol 780 and 780W luminaires, the light

source is one 28 W compact fl uorescent

lamp. Sol 782LED luminaires use as light

source a LED module that is permanently

installed on the intermediate cover.

The luminaires are suitable for use in

gets damaged, this does not aff ect the

functioning of the luminaire.

Sol 780, 780W luminaires contain a

conventional ballast and an electronic

starter (780) that lengthens the service

life of the lamp or frost-resistant starter

(780W) suitable for outdoor use. A

Sol 782LED luminaire also contains

an electronic constant current power

Duo luminaires

The versatile and durable Duo luminaires, which have been created in cooperation with

architects and electrical designers, also provide the right wall luminaire solution for

demanding outdoor lighting.

The splash-proof (IP44) Duo luminaires, with their steel bodies and

impact-resistant polycarbonate diff users, are highly suitable for the entire

constructed environment (both outdoors and indoors). If necessary, they are

also equipped with a snow guard.

The body is available in white, black and graphite grey.

In the luminaire series, the newest addition is the Duo 812, which has been

developed especially for situations where the luminaire has to be turned on

rapidly and frequently (e.g., for motion detector use). The Duo 812 functions

Iittala bollards

Due to their timeless design, Iittala bollards are suitable for the outdoor lighting of

public buildings, as well for as one-family houses.

The beautiful and glareless light is also highly suitable for squares and shore areas.

Iittala bollards

Iittala bollards are made of polyester-fi nished aluminium, so they are corrosionresistant

and have a long life. Iittala bollards mainly have rotationally symmetrical

light distribution directed downwards from the horizontal plane.

The part directed upwards gives a backlight that slightly emphasises the

surrounding structures and vegetation.

The luminaires are 1.2 m or 70 cm high. The luminaires can also be equipped with a

Schuko socket with hinged lid and can then also be used, for example, as a current

generator for the garden or a car engine and interior heater.

Marine bollards

I-Valo's marine bollards are very luminous bollards

designed for the needs of electricity and water

distribution. The main areas of application are quaysides,

harbour areas, camp sites and caravan parks. The

luminaire uses an 80 W mercury-vapour lamp.

The bollards are 1.2 m high and can be equipped with

two CEE socket outlets and one water tap. The luminaires

include socket outlet-specifi c (automatic) circuit breakers

and residual current circuit breakers.

Luminaire body is entirely made of chromated

aluminium. As a result, it is also suitable for use in a

brackish water environment. For wooden jetties, the

luminaire has a square mounting fl ange with a larger

mounting surface.

Beo bollards are 1,200 mm high and have rotationally

Beo bollards are resistant to

I-Valo's industrial luminaires have been planned with particular

attention to their suitability for high ambient temperatures, humid

and dusty applications, and for premises which have impurities

in the air. The luminaires are easy to install and maintain, and the

When planning the luminaire, the

A Goretex fi lter protects the inside

I-Valo’s Horizontal luminaires are

designed for demanding industrial

spaces where high temperatures and/

or impurities in the air (dust, gases)

challenge the structure of the luminaire.

The structure of the horizontal

luminaire is very fi rm, low and robust.

Epoxy coating protects the aluminium

housing from corrosion, the dust rim of

the luminaire prevents the front glass

from soiling, and the double-eff ect

Track mounting system

A track mounting system has been

developed to facilitate service. The

system allows the luminaires to be

transferred to the service area on a

track rail, and back again after service.

Track mounting system for less than 8 luminaires:

- If 8 luminaires are mounted behind one winder, the winder can be used to transfer the

luminaires to service area and back

Track mounting system for more than 8 luminaires:

- There are also mechanisms suited for transferring more than 8 luminaires with one winder,

but then a diff erent kind of winder needs to be used. In this case, the luminaires are manually

pulled into the service area and brought back using a winder. These need to be discussed on a

case-by-case basis

More information
