ABOUT APPLYING TO THE CANADA MEDIA FUND<br />

2012-2013 CMF Convergent Stream Production Application Form<br />

These notes will help you complete the 2012-2013 CMF Convergent Stream Production Application Form. It is important to use<br />

the application form that corresponds to the Convergent Criteria of your project. To make sure you are using the correct application<br />

form, see the section WHICH APPLICATION FORM TO USE.<br />

Applicants must read the CMF 2012-2013 Guidelines of the applicable Program and the corresponding CMF Business Policies<br />

prior to completing the CMF Application Form.<br />

All CMF forms are available on the CMF website: www.cmf-fmc.ca<br />

Complete all information requested and include all relevant documentation with your application. Incomplete applications will<br />

result in a delay in funding.<br />

Clearly identify and staple all required documents separately. DO NOT use a binder when assembling your documents.<br />

Applications can be submitted through eTelefilm at http://www.telefilm.ca/en/extranet<br />

The Television Component cannot be broadcast prior to the receipt of the CMF funding application by the CMF Program<br />

Administrator | Telefilm <strong>Canada</strong>.<br />

The Television Component Applicant and the Digital <strong>Media</strong> Component Applicant/Producer may be the same production company,<br />

or they may be two separate production companies.<br />

Applicant/Producers must own and control all the rights necessary to produce and exploit the project (or applicable component(s)<br />

of the project); entities that provide services but do not own the applicable rights are not eligible Applicants to the CMF.<br />

At least one of the following Television Criteria and one of the Convergent Criteria (as set out in Section 3.2 of the Guidelines of<br />

the applicable Program) must be met in order for your project to be eligible.<br />

Television Criteria:<br />

The Television Component will be made available by:<br />

1. One or more CRTC-licenced traditional, scheduled broadcasters;<br />

2. One or more CRTC-licenced video-on-demand (VOD) services<br />

(if you choose this option for the Television Criteria, you cannot choose VOD as the Convergent Criteria)<br />

Convergent Criteria:<br />

1. The Television Component will be made available to Canadians by one or more CRTC-licensed<br />

video-on-demand (VOD) services<br />

(this option is not available if the Television Criteria is met by having the Television Component available on VOD);<br />

2. The Television Component will be made available to Canadians by a Canadian entity via<br />

non-simulcast digital distribution;<br />

3. One or more Digital <strong>Media</strong> Components that are either:<br />

a. CMF-<strong>Fund</strong>ed Digital <strong>Media</strong> Components<br />

OR<br />

b. Non CMF-<strong>Fund</strong>ed Digital <strong>Media</strong> Components


WHICH APPLICATION FORM TO USE<br />

Listed below are the 4 application forms available for CMF Convergent Stream Production funding.<br />

You must use the application form that corresponds to the Convergent Criteria of your project.<br />

CMF Application Form Name When to Use it?<br />

1. Television & <strong>Fund</strong>ed Digital <strong>Media</strong><br />

2. Television VOD & Digital Distribution<br />

3. Television & Non-<strong>Fund</strong>ed Digital <strong>Media</strong><br />

4. <strong>Fund</strong>ed Digital <strong>Media</strong> Only<br />

To use when:<br />

a) There is a Television Component<br />

AND<br />

b) The project’s Convergent Criteria is a CMF-<strong>Fund</strong>ed<br />

Digital <strong>Media</strong> Component.<br />

To use when:<br />

a) There is a Television Component<br />

AND<br />

b) The project’s Convergent Criteria is met through either<br />

video-on-demand (VOD) services OR non-simulcast<br />

digital distribution<br />

AND<br />

c) There is no CMF-<strong>Fund</strong>ed or Non<br />

CMF-<strong>Fund</strong>ed Digital <strong>Media</strong> Component.<br />

To use when:<br />

a) There is a Television Component<br />

AND<br />

b) The project’s Convergent Criteria is a Non CMF-<strong>Fund</strong>ed<br />

Digital <strong>Media</strong> Component.<br />

To use when:<br />

a) The Television Component was financed by the CMF<br />

earlier in the fiscal year (or in a previous fiscal year)<br />

AND<br />

b) the project is only requesting funding for the Digital <strong>Media</strong><br />

Component<br />

AND/OR<br />

c) it is a Convergent Digital <strong>Media</strong> Incentive Only application.<br />

Note: A separate <strong>Fund</strong>ed Digital <strong>Media</strong> Only application<br />

must be completed for each additional Digital <strong>Media</strong><br />

Component.
