A little bit about Oakwood
Oakwood Engineering is a consultancy that specialises in delivering innovative solutions that support
clients in the built environment. We have an extensive team of Virtual Design & Construction
professionals highly skilled in modelling, information management and process improvement. We
collaborate with clients to identify business drivers and requirements, whilst supporting supply chains
during delivery to improve performance and assure compliance. Our specialist structural engineering
division has the capacity and experience to accommodate structures of all sizes and types. Our 4D visual
planning and Building Information Modelling expertise are second to none. We not only win awards for our
work, but we take great pride in every single project we deliver.
BIM - Establish the future
Building Information Modelling is a management process.
BIM is not a technology or the creation of a 3D model. It is the management
process underpinned by collaboration using structured and shareable
information.
We assist our clients simplify the delivery of their built environment assets
by supporting the creation, deployment and management of
BIM and information management strategies covering the
entire life cycle.
Clash Detection - Coordinate the future
Acting on behalf of clients, design teams and contractors, we manage the coordination of
design using the most advanced tools on the market. We have a long track record of significantly
reducing clashes and therefore reducing on-site risk and costs.
Data Management - Control the future
Are your suppliers successfully delivering information and data requirements?
Our efficient validation and assurance workflows ensure full visibility of model
content. Robust reporting procedures enables effective decision making and
control for our clients.

4D - See the future
Our 4D programme analysis solutions give users
the ability to see into the future of a project. It’s
your crystal ball.
The project programme is integrated with the 3D BIM models
of the permanent works, temporary works, plant and
logistics. The 4D environment then provides an insight into
the delivery of the project on-site. We also offer full bespoke
training and support to assure successful implementation.
We have unrivalled experience having constructed hundreds of 4D models.
Our clients have experienced a wide number of benefits by adopting 4D
programme analysis including:
- Powerful communication and marketing tool for using in bid submissions
- Reduction in programme inefficiencies and commercial risk
- Demonstrate feasibility and on time delivery
- Virtual Tracking and Baseline Comparison
- What-If Scenarios
- Static/Dynamic/Spatial Clash Testing
- Improved safety planning
- Boost Supply Chain Knowledge
“Oakwood Engineering exceeded expectations with their innovative
approach and professional delivery. The BIM models
formed an integral part of our pre-construction
planning.” Richard Troup, Planning Director, Multiplex
“We were successful in avoiding any delay in hand
back through using the 4D Model” David Lindsay,
Senior Project Manager for Network Rail
“Attributed as a Major Contributing Factor to Winning
the Bid”
“Helped Reduce Commercial Risk”
Charlie Paul, Associate Director Of Operations,
Virtual Reality BIM - Step into the future
Step into a whole new world of building visualisation and asset management. We
have developed a ground breaking Virtual Reality “Gaming” platform. Environments
can be fully interactive to allow design optimisation and approval. Experience 4D
sequencing from Synchro or access asset information data from COBie, IFC, etc.
This opens up a whole realm in which a user can immerse themselves in the
design and build for a comprehensive understanding of the project
or asset.
3D Visualisation -
Max the future
Our visualisation team produce high resolution
imagery and films.
Enhance bid submissions with photo
realistic content or explore scenes in
360° panoramics.

3D Laser Scanning - Point to the future
3D Laser Scanning is fast becoming the industry standard of surveying techniques. The
hardware has advanced rapidly over the last few years, making it much more accurate
and delivering much denser point clouds than ever before. This means more reliable data
output which in turn means we can deliver a higher degree of accuracy than ever before.
So, what’s the point?
As-built surveys are extremely useful for heritage sites, refurbishment BIM and
topographical information. Deliverables include 3D BIM Models, 2D Drawings
and interactive 360° Panoramics.
3D - Model the future
Oakwood Engineering have been 3D modelling in the
design and construction industry since the early nineties.
We use a multitude of authoring tools to suit the project
deliverables, whilst adhering to Level of Development
(LoD). Please contact us for all your architectural,
structural or MEP modelling needs.
