Polo Play<strong>in</strong>g Elephants<br />
Elephants play polo? In addition to soccer? Although the sport is<br />
commonly played on horses, there is a long history <strong>of</strong> play<strong>in</strong>g polo on<br />
elephants, with its orig<strong>in</strong>s trac<strong>in</strong>g back to Nepal. The Anantara Golden<br />
Triangle Resort <strong>in</strong> Chiang Saen hosts the annual K<strong>in</strong>g’s Cup Elephant<br />
Polo Tournament on its grounds. Ten teams from different countries<br />
participate <strong>in</strong> the tournament. In addition to polo, there’s a whole host<br />
<strong>of</strong> elephant-related activities such as a parade and pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g. Proceeds<br />
from the event get donated to Thailand’s National Elephant Institute.<br />
