I’ve got to be honest, it’s probably the oddest thing I’ll do this week. Hey Welshotter Welcome to the second issue of Welshot Focus. We do hope you enjoyed the first edition as much as we did putting it together. So let’s get the serious stuff over. What is your role within Welshot? I’ve been one of Welshot’s team leaders for a couple of years now, initially getting involved when Eifion was taken ill. Since then, I’ve also become Welshot’s project manager, working on a whole host of new initiatives (and generally annoying Lee at every given opportunity). It’s something I thoroughly enjoy, and I’m genuinely excited about the direction Welshot is going and how it’s quickly becoming a significant brand within the UK’s photographic community. WELSHOT HQ: 01248 719126 Welshot Imaging Ltd – Plas Lon Las, Brynsiencyn, Anglesey LL61 6TQ Spring is in the air – daffodils are brightening up the garden and evenings are getting longer – which makes it even easier to get out with your camera. What’s in your camera bag? I’ve been shooting Nikon ever since I bought my first DSLR back in 2006. I’m currently shooting with a couple of D800 bodies and I have usual suspect lenses. I’m not a massive fan of prime lenses, I’m too lazy to walk backwards and forwards to frame stuff! In this issue, we are focusing on what you can do once you’ve made your photograph – from uploading to your WELSHOT / SMUGMUG GUEST GALLERY on the website to getting your images printed. What kind of stuff do you shoot? My heart lies with fashion and portraiture, although I’m desperately trying to teach myself street photography. I suppose that what I’m trying to say is, I love shooting people. Hmm, that never comes out right... Your “HOW TO…” this month is a beginner’s guide to the exposure triangle which gives you a handy cut-out and keep card to pop in your camera bag. We hope you find it useful. If you could have dinner with any photographer, living or dead, who would it be? Without question, my photographic hero, Herb Ritts. Actually, seeing as I’m asking myself questions here, I’m changing this into a dinner party and inviting David Bailey, Richard Mapplethorpe, David LaChapelle, Bruce Weber and Patrick Demarchelier. But if I’m paying for the food, the least they can do is bring a bottle. Whatever you are doing in April and May, we do hope we will see you at an ACADEMY EVENING – WE LOVE HELPING YOU TO GET THE BEST FROM YOUR CAMERA. Have you had enough yet? Go on, give me a couple more questions. Happy Snapping. Lee x What does the future hold for you as a photographer? I’d love to say shoots in the Seychelles and massive paycheques but who am I kidding? I’m currently studying for a degree in photography, my aim being to become a fully qualified photography teacher. I get a genuine kick from helping others, so this seems like a natural progression for me. Finally, if you could travel back in time and warn yourself of something, what would you say?
