THE ARTS
HISTORY
Since the early 1900’s the corner of Franklin and First has
been the cornerstone of local entertainment. Opening
in 1947, The Roxy, has entertained Clarksvillians with
first-run movies until 1980. In 1983, the Roxy Regional
Theatre was born as a live theatre and quickly became
“…the cornerstone of downtown re-development.”
In 1995, a professional company was created in order
to supply the great demand for Shakespeare, other
classics, school curriculum-based productions and
holiday shows, and to enlarge the Roxy’s outreach
services to the community.
THROUGH TODAY
Celebrating its 32nd Anniversary Season, Roxy Regional
Theatre patrons have been entertained with over 400
productions since its start in 1983.

If you are looking for the perfect date night Honky Tonk
Angels (February 13 – March 7) and The 39 Steps (June
19 – July 3) fit the bill perfectly. Pair this with dinner
at Edward’s Steakhouse, across the street, on Saturday
nights for the perfect Dinner and Show option.
Beginning in September 2015, all focus shifts to the
start of the 33rd Anniversary Season. For details about
productions starting in September and for all other

Don’t forget about the active duty military discount
available during all Wednesday and Thursday night,
7pm, main stage performances.
The Roxy Regional Theatre is known for its focus on
education and shows like Flopsy, Mopsy & Cottontail
(January 17 – February 7), William Shakespeare’s
Measure for Measure (March 13 – 21), and Tuesdays
With Morrie (March 27 – April 11) are a perfect outlet for
school groups and patrons.
The Roxy Regional Theatre is also a perfect outlet for
family fun. Shows like Mary Poppins (April 24 – May
23), Disney’s The Aristocats (May 29 – June 13) and The
Music Man (July 17 – August 22) are excellent choices
for the whole family.
