NORTHLAND NEWS April 2017 MISSION STATEMENT: Northland Library enables, encourages and empowers lifelong learning and discovery. At Your Library - The Library will be closed for the Easter Holiday on Sunday, April 16, 2017. This team of ladies are responsible for adding color to the Library during March when they staged a ‘Yarn Bomb’ at Northland. Chess Master Gabriel Petesch takes on thirty opponents at the same time at Saturday’s Chess Showdown. He won all the games. Feature Focus Northland’s book sales are legendary and our upcoming May 5-7 sale brings forth another chapter in our amazing history! The popularity of our book sales is evidenced by the huge crowds who are attracted to the volume, affordability and appeal of our sale items. Visiting our sale is a great way to add to or begin your own library while you support Northland’s programs and services! In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “I cannot live without books,” and many of our book sale shoppers share this philosophy. Luckily, our donations consistently surpass expectations. From all indications, our donors read newly released fiction by numerous popular authors, magazines about the culinary arts, hobbies, travel, health and family life and also listen to a variety of CD’s. Our awesome array of non-fiction books also staggers the mind. Equal to the appeal of our donations, our many volunteers are to be congratulated for the outstanding service they provide from set-up to tear-down. Efficient systems for sorting are practiced, skilled customer service talents are displayed and while you’re having fun, you’re also training new volunteers and investing your time so wisely. Please visit the library website and complete a book sale volunteer application. You’ll be among the first to get an early look at our great sale items and receive a volunteer discount at the same time. Patron Feedback “The Northland Library is simply the best. The book selection is very good. The librarians and the staff are both knowledgeable and very helpful. They will go out of their way to help you and do it with a smile. Thank you to all the staff. Your friend, Fred Mays” The final result from our Terrarium Workshop at the Library provided in partnership with North Park.
