WELCOME
A hotel with soul…
It’s been a busy start to the year at The Greenbank. As
I’m writing this, we are in the midst of preparing for the
summer season. Our team are currently refurbing more
bedrooms, extending our pub’s kitchen, adding an
exterior decking area, and creating a beautiful new
honeymoon suite.
In other news, Falmouth has just been voted the best
place to live in the UK by The Sunday Times. With this
impressive accolade and our ongoing developments,
it’s the perfect time to visit us. From paddling at the
shoreline to strolling cobbled streets, we know you’ll be
captivated by our vibrant town and what it has to offer.
Let us share it with you…
We sincerely hope to welcome you soon.
PUT SOME SPRING IN YOUR STEP
Hide and seek out Cornwall’s famous gardens
It’s a fact that spring arrives first in Cornwall. If you’re joining us at this time of year,
expect cloudless skies, blossoming magnolias and secluded coast paths.
There’s nothing better than packing up a picnic, pulling on your walking boots, and
exploring one of our many nearby gardens. The sub-tropical paradises of Trebah
and Glendurgan are just a short drive away – and both have their very own beach
on the Helford River.
Or head a little further to Trelissick, get lost under ancient canopies at the Lost
Gardens of Heligan, and discover the world’s largest greenhouses at The Eden
Project. We’ve teamed up with the lovely folk at Picnic Cornwall to offer hampers
full of Cornish goodies to feed your appetite, from just £20 for two people.
We can also organise discounted garden and attraction tickets for you –
just ask when you check-in or by calling 01326 312440.
LEAP ABOARD
Prepare to set sail
Our private pontoons are perfectly positioned for day
tripping on the River Fal. There’s nothing quite like
stepping out of your room and straight onto a waiting
boat as the salty sea air whips around the bay. And
here you can do just that.
Cruise through the estuary to the Roseland peninsula,
Truro or St Mawes – we can arrange it all for you. Just
ask us about water taxis, luxury yacht charters, day
sailing trips and our Fal River Mussel Card discounts.
Take to the water for a morning or afternoon with
Falmouth School of Sailing and save 15% when you
quote ‘Greenbank’. Or if you prefer the independence
of hiring your own boat, our guests save 10% with
Falmouth Boat Hire.
We also welcome boat owners to moor up and join
us for a bite to eat or a pint or two in our quayside
pub. Or why not commute to us by boat? Overnight
moorings available for residents.
DIP YOUR TOE IN...
It’s all on your doorstep when you stay with us – from
world-class sailing and wild swimming to surfing,
coasteering and kayaking.
Gylly Adventures offer our guests the chance to
experience Falmouth on the water. For back-to-nature
fun, book a kayak or paddle board lesson or tour,
and choose to launch straight from our quay or from
Gyllyngvase beach.
We’ll also be holding paddle board yoga sunset and
sunrise sessions throughout summer, and LED night
time kayak and paddle board tours around the harbour.
Please call Andrew on 07341 890495 to book.
RAISING THE BAR
The perfect place to kick back
The sweet, sharp hit of frozen
raspberries and rum in the sunshine.
Long lazy brunching on the terrace,
frothy coffee in hand. A warming
whisky as the moon dances on the
water. As a four star hotel we take
our drinks seriously.
“The Greenbank has been an essential
part of the fabric of Falmouth life since
the 17th century, when it provided lodgings
– and booze – for the sea captains
and crews anchored in what was then
Britain’s most important harbour.
MOUTH WATERING. BELLY FILLING. HEART WARMING.
Executive Chef Nick tells us: “Being Cornish born and bred and proud to call Falmouth my home,
I’m passionate about provenance and believe it’s paramount to give a nod to the local suppliers
and growers who have helped to shape our menus.
With one of Cornwall’s liveliest fishing ports on our doorstep, we’re lucky to have an abundance
of first class fish and seafood at our finger tips. At the restaurant we like to take our pick of the
day’s catch and serve it with new potatoes, samphire, tender stem and a lemon dill beurre blanc.
After the hearty meals of winter, spring and summer flavours are all about freshness. Our paddle
sharing boards are always popular when the temperature starts to rise. There’s something very
Cornish about grazing over smoked salmon, fresh crab, cured meats and homemade focaccia
with a glass of white, overlooking the harbour.”
Upgrade to a three course dinner when you stay for just £25 per person (giving you £35 credit).
Or push the boat out with lunch – £16 for two courses or £20 for three, every day of the week.
“The lounge, with its well-stocked bar, is
spacious, well-tended and very comfy –
the perfect place to sit watching the life
of the river with a pot of Cornish tea or
a shot of Curio Cornish rock samphire gin
or Aval Dor potato vodka.”
“The best rooms have balconies, but
those with bay windows are almost as
good – hours can be spent watching life
on the river pass by, with its brown
sailed oyster dredgers, sailing craft and
jauntily painted passenger ferries.”
DON’T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT...
“It is always such a pleasure to find a gem of a hotel. Breakfast is a particular favourite of mine - the home made granola pots are
simply delicious, as is the scrambled egg and smoked salmon, but best of all is the view. I am surprised that my food ends up in my
mouth as the view is spectacular and I cannot take my eyes from it. Best in the UK.” - TripAdvisor review, March 2017
“Originally a home in the 17th century, The Greenbank went on to become an inn that hosted both Florence Nightingale and
Kenneth Greene, author of The Wind in the Willows. The beds are some of the comfiest we’ve slept in – although they’re narrowly
beaten as our favourite thing about the place by the harbour views from the room’s bay window.” - Escapism, November 2016
“What a joy! Breath -taking sea views that you can’t compete with. I felt very looked after. The location means that you’re in
a peaceful location but still less than a five minute walk into town. Perfect.” - TripAdvisor review, March 2017
“All the staff were so lovely and attentive and the decor throughout the complex was nothing short from stunning. We were
upgraded to the deluxe harbour view room which was out of this world. From breakfast in bed to Champagne afternoon tea - it was
all perfect.” - Facebook review, March 2017
