Eagle resident Victor Krieg, 16, earned his Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America on Nov. 27. Krieg is a member
of Mukwonago Troop 363, which is chartered by Mukwonago American Legion Post 375. Eagle Scout is the highest
rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America. The designation “Eagle Scout” was founded in 1912. Only 4 percent of Boy
Scouts earn this rank after a lengthy review process. The requirements necessary to achieve the rank take years to fulfill.
Although 21 merit badges are required to earn Eagle rank, Krieg earned 34 merit badges in areas ranging from wilderness
survival skills, cooking, shooting sports, and nuclear science. One of the main requirements for the Eagle Scout rank is
to plan, develop, and give leadership to others in a service project helpful to any religious institution, any school, or the
community. To meet this requirement, Krieg led a team of fellow scouts, youth, and adults on a service project at All
Saints Lutheran Church in Wales. The project consisted of painting four Sunday School rooms and the hall connecting
them, as well as refurbishing some storage cabinets in the rooms. Krieg plans to remain active in Boy Scouts, and is also
a member of its national honor society, the Order of the Arrow, where he holds a youth position on the local chapter’s
executive committee.

Maggie Attoe provided us with a great story
from Springfield, Illinois! The first picture is Abraham
Lincoln’s monument in Springfield Illinois. It was
amazing! The second picture is the outside of his
Mausoleum. Him, his wife and two children are buried
there. His eldest was buried in Arlington.
The next picture is a mausoleums outside at a cemetery
in Illinois. I thought it was kind of funny and reminded
me of Fred Flinstone. But it’s actually an old Senator of
SpringField Illinois who’s buried there.
Next is my very favorite it’s called Eternal Silence. It’s
located in Graceland Cemetery, Chicago Illinois. This
was one of the most unbelievable monuments and
statues I’ve seen. It’s made of all bronze and is extremely
eerie but wonderful. It stands around seven feet tall!
Then there is a beautiful stained glass window located
at Resurrection Mausoleum and Cemetery in Chicago
Illinois. This one is unbelievably large and so ornate.
There’s also a fun ghost story about Resurrection Mary,
look it up!

Clyde has a new addition to announce to the
Rupnow family!
This little guy has brought a lot of enjoyment to
the lives of his grandparents Clyde and Lu Ann
Rupnow. Croix is looking forward to the birth of
his new sister or brother in June. Clyde and LuAnn
are also anticipating the wedding of their son
Andrew to his fiancée Andrea later this summer.
“So I am the crazy winner of the Tribute Torch
Bearer Award for both January and February. My
sales volume for the first two months of the year is
$122,876. What I attribute to my success is coming to
work with a positive attitude, persistence, and always
striving to better myself through training and selfeducation.
In January, I was awarded a scholarship
from the ICCFA to attend the Wide World of Sales
Conference in Phoenix, AZ. I spend a lot of my free
time reading industry periodicals, books, and my
favorite passion: volunteering. There is a strong Greek
presence at Pinelawn Memorial Park and I regularly
volunteer at the local Greek churches, networking
and becoming familiar with their culture and
heritage. This allows me to better understand how to
prearrange their cemetery arrangements. I am proud
of my accomplishments at St. Constantine & Helen
Greek Orthodox Church because the repertoire I have
built with the clergy and members is enabling me to
send out a cemetery prearrangement letter to over
400 families offering special incentives for making
arrangements with me. My annual goal for 2017 is
$1,000,000 dollars in commissionable sales volume.
I’m going to continue to hit the ground running!
Meanwhile, My scholarship is through the International
Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Association. I just
found out that my scholarship is funded by Regions Bank.
The ICCFA University consists of a five-day intensive
instruction in one of the following colleges at the University
of Memphis in Memphis, TN. The dates are July 21-26,
2017. It covers everything from 21st Century Services,
Cremation Services, International Studies, Funeral Home
Management, Land Management & Grounds Operations,
Leadership, Administration & Management, to Sales &
Marketing. I selected to attend the College of International
Studies because I want to learn more about the customs,
religions, and traditions that impact funeral and cemetery
practices. I wish to take what I learned and apply these
ideas to growing our business within these cultures. I will
be learning from top leaders in the Funeral, Cemetery, and
Cremation industry and have the ability to take my interest
in the profession to the next level.”
David Line’s volume last month (February) was
about 47,000. The average number of hours
that he spends on the phone every day is about
3. He gets in at 8am, sets up for appointments,
reviews his schedule, and makes calls in
between meetings with families.
When addressing at-need families, he
immediately asks about the deceased person’s
life. People love to share their loved one’s
personality and adventures. While meeting
with a family for the first time, the question
that always breaks the ice is, “How long have
you lived in the area?” Most people have lived
here their whole lives and reflect on their work
or family and friends. He attributes his success
to keeping an upbeat attitude regardless of
what last month’s profits were and always
looking ahead. Continuing to keep activity
and approach each appointment with a fersh
outlook.
Congratulations to Sue at Restlawn
Sue Syring sold the private estate that has been on display at Restlawn
for many years. We were happy to see this sell and Sue did a great job
uncovering this sales opportunity.
