began with a damaged heart
and a nervous system tortured
a brain rewired to prevent pain,
malfunction
a private lake of empathy, with a beach
of bone meal
and fowers only for the bees and
curious noses
the butterfies will talk to you if you let
them
and the sky will too
and the earth is silent
but she speaks if you listen with your
heart

Transmigration of the Sole
As my ashes lay to rest, across an empty pond,
The fall wind came in sighs and the old trees cried along,
And the pond’s blue water cooled as the sun fell out of sight,
And the ashes kissed the water and the water recalled life.
A sole awoke alone amidst a sandy floor,
Of a pond under the sun in some place that was warm,
The sole began to stir and then began to swim,
Up to the distant surface where the sun would enter in,
And It was at the surface where the sole would spend its day,
Swimming with the lilies and floating time away,
For the sole loved nothing more than the lilies in the sun,
May the lilies always glow and the good sole always love.
