Lanre Makun, CEO of

younger brother to
popular comedian, actor,
and director Ayo Makun, is
a man of few words. Well
known for planning and
organizing most comedy
shows in Nigeria, there's
no doubt that he has made
a name for himself in the
Nigerian entertainment
industry. He speaks about
his business, family and
relationship with his
siblings.
How did you venture into events
management?
Interview by Azuka Ogujiuba
I started events management not quite long ago, I
started two years ago but it's something I've been
doing for a very long time. When I was in school, I
was part of the DELSU Most Beautiful Girl
pageant that AY organised. When AY came to
Lagos and started doing comedy, even when we
started the first AY Live in 2007 at Muson center, I
was still part of it. Then I didn't know it was
something I could do on my own but as time went
on, there was a day I just woke up and said, 'do
you know this is something you can actually do,
It's something you have been doing for years, so
it's something you can do for others'. I started
from AY Live and then I did Akpororo vs Akpororo
and that was how I started officially two years
ago.

What's the biggest job you've ever done as an
event manager?
With all due respect, it's my brother's platform but
it's still the biggest. AY Live remains my biggest
event management project. I've done a couple of
events apart from AY Live, but I think that's the
biggest.
Who are you closer to between AY and Yomi?
I'm equally close to the both of them because in
my house, I don't think there's anybody that's
closer to one person than the other person. All of
us relate as one.
Is it a coincidence that you and AY are both
married to light skinned ladies?
I will say it's a coincidence and I will also say it's
not, because when you are dark, you need light
to help the future of your children.
How will you describe AY as an elder brother,
