Message from
The President
would like to extend my warmest congratulations to The Department of
I Mechanical Engineering on the happy occasion of its 80th anniversary.
PolyU’s history of providing engineering education started in the days of the
Government Trade School, PolyU’s predecessor, with The Department of
Mechanical Engineering as one of the institution’s founding departments.
Over the years, the Department has evolved and enjoys increasing
international recognition both in teaching and research. It takes pride in the
laudable success of its graduates who have made significant contributions to
the progress and prosperity of Hong Kong. They have also played a key role
in elevating our living standard while at the same time ensuring that our
environment is well protected.
With the continued dedication and strong commitment of its staff,
alumni and students, I am confident that The Department of Mechanical
Engineering will continue to play a pivotal role in providing quality
education to generations of inquisitive minds and in advancing knowledge
through cutting-edge research in the years to come.
