Temspec was established in 1971 as a manufacturer of
vertical stack fan coil units for the high rise hotel and
condominium markets. As the Company expanded the
benefits of ultra-quiet operation and small unit footprint
were incorporated into a new vertical type classroom
unit ventilator. Temspec is now a major HVAC equipment
supplier and this product guide gives an overview of the
range. The designs are flexible and our technical staff are
trained to work closely with Engineers, Architects and
building operators to select the correct units for the
project. The components and accessories are adapted
to perfectly meet the architectural, mechanical and
control requirements. A network of experienced sales
representatives is located throughout North America.

All units have 100% economizer cooling and are available in an
upflow draw through configuration for ducted supply air systems
or upflow blow through for non-ducted units. The 1200 series
unit has a downflow option for supply air distribution in
a plenum behind casework such as bookshelves or using
baseboard level duct.
The 1200 and 1600 Series units can be installed horizontally above
the ceiling tile. Heating is by hot water, steam or electric coil.

Used with the 1200 Series unit ventilator when the condensing unit
is required to be indoors as opposed to roof mounted. Super-quiet,
this unit has a powder coat finish and the wall louver is provided.
The "ISC" unit is located in an exterior wall with the condenser
air flow passing directly through the wall. Ideal for fitting into the
wall opening of the old under-the-window type unit ventilator
during a retrofit. Access is through the front and so the "ISC"
condensing unit can have casework built around it.

UNIT VENTILATOR ACCESSORIES
• Lateral discharge duct for downflow 1200 Series (see photo).
• Rear insulated outdoor air intake plenum for use with 1200 and
1600 Series units when outdoor air is to be ducted from a high
wall louver, a louver which is in a non standard location in the
wall or from the roof. The plenum height is to suit the ceiling.
• Raised base or top extension to suit the ceiling height.
• Demountable side pipe cover, custom block off panels.
• All units have an option for a built in barometric damper
or exhaust fan for pressure relief in the room.
• Acoustical elbow / top plenum for high volume supply air units.

DIRECT DIGITAL CONTROLS
Temspec offers factory mounting of a wide range of control
types. Often a building owner has a preference for the controls of
a particular energy management systems contractor or manu-
facturer. We work closely with the selected contractor to ensure
economical and error free factory mounting of the control com-
ponents and associated wiring.

The "TV" Series unit is installed concealed behind gypsum board.
The "TF" series has a finished cabinet for exposed installation.
Two pipe or four pipe systems are available. Tandem (back to back
or side to side) configurations are commonly used in hotel con-
struction. Supply air volume is in the range 350 to 1200 c.f.m.
Supply air can be ducted off the top. Insulated copper risers are
factory mounted or can be field installed in renovation projects.

UNDER-THE-WINDOW UNIT VENTILATOR
High operating noise level
Poor air distribution in the classroom.
Air discharge at counter top level
Short cycling of the supply air into the return air,
particularly in cooling mode
Takes a large amount of valuable floor space
Books can block the supply air grille in the top of the unit
leading to DX coil freeze-up

The features incorporated into the Temspec unit ventilator provide
the answer to the challenge of classroom HVAC system design.
The under-the-window type of unit ventilator, commonly used over
the past fifty years has several well known deficiencies. The chart
below shows a comparison between the Temspec unit and the now
obsolete under-the-window type.
