The University of New Mexico’s<br />

College of <strong>Nursing</strong> has named<br />

Clinical Instructor Rebecca<br />

Mance a 2016 distinguished alumna.<br />

Ms. Mance has also been selected as<br />

a <strong>2017</strong> Paul Ambrose scholar by the<br />

Association of Prevention Teaching<br />

and Research and the U.S. Department<br />

of Health and Human Services<br />

Office of Disease Prevention and<br />

Health Promotion.<br />

Professor Angela McNelis has been<br />

appointed to the editorial board of<br />

<strong>Nursing</strong> Education Perspectives, the<br />

journal of the National League for<br />

<strong>Nursing</strong>. She also has been named a<br />

distinguished alumna of the Indiana<br />

University School of Education, where<br />

she received a master’s degree in<br />

education while pursuing graduate<br />

degrees in nursing.<br />

Professor Joyce Pulcini received<br />

the 2016 Rodham Institute Academic<br />

Community Development Award for<br />

“Engaging Communities to Enhance<br />

Coordinated Asthma Care,” a project<br />

in partnership with the District of<br />

Columbia Asthma Coalition.<br />

Assistant Professor Billinda<br />

Tebbenhoff was selected as an<br />

advisory board member for the HOPE<br />

initiative in Loudoun County, Va. The<br />

HOPE initiative connects community<br />

resources to prevent youth suicide.<br />

At the September 2016 Council for the<br />

Advancement of <strong>Nursing</strong> Science State<br />

of the Science Conference, Associate<br />

Professor Karen Whitt was awarded<br />

“Abstract of Distinction” for her<br />

presentation “Nurse Practitioners’<br />

Use of Pharmacogenetics in<br />

Clinical Practice.”<br />

FAREWELL<br />

Assistant Professor Marjorie<br />

Graziano, director of the<br />

Family Nurse Practitioner<br />

(FNP) program track, retired<br />

at the end of December. The<br />

FNP program, both at the<br />

master’s and post-master’s<br />

levels, grew significantly under<br />

her leadership, expanding to a<br />

twice-per-year admission cycle<br />

with an annual enrollment<br />

of over 100 students. As<br />

evidence of the hard work and<br />

dedication of Dr. Graziano and<br />

her team, the students’ pass<br />

rate for the arduous program is<br />

consistently above 90 percent.<br />

Dr. Graziano leaves behind a<br />

strong legacy and foundation<br />

for the school to continue to<br />

build upon.<br />
