ABOUT US
The La Semilla brand story is, at its core,
a love story. The owners met many years ago
while working in hospitality in NYC and it was
love at first sight. From the beginning of
their relationship, they dreamed of owning a
little property near the water. In 2013, their
dreams came to fruition with the opening on
Hotel La Semilla in Playa del Carmen, a refuge
for stylish travellers looking for a personal
and romantic jumping-off-point for relaxing
and exploring the Yucatan Peninsula.
They quickly began brainstorming ways to
better serve their independent guests while
offering something completely unique and
private. The result? Villa La Semilla, a
secret villa quietly nestled on the beach at
Soliman Bay. It is a place where one can
completely disconnect from the daily routine
and reconnect with nature and loved ones.

Our brand is rooted in the values that
it’s owner’s hold dear to their hearts.
The spanish word Semilla means seed. This
word has been a powerful north star in
guiding the vision and values of the
brand. A seed is something that you
nurture and love—it blossoms right before
your eyes into something extraordinary yet
unbelievably simple. With us, we hope that
guests recognize the seed within each of
them and the power to cultivate the
extraordinary.

where quiet moments with nature allow you
to disconnect with the busy, fast-paced
world and reconnect with the earth, each
