EXETER
West England. A weekly farmer’s market sells field-fresh
produce and regular street food markets provide the
opportunity to try quality Devon meats and fish as a
quick lunch stop. Head to the Cathedral Quarter for a
traditional cream tea, or enjoy real ales and fine wines in
historic pubs.
Whatever your cultural tastes, Exeter will have
something to offer. Catch professional touring
theatre productions at the Exeter Northcott, quirky,
underground performances at the Bike Shed Theatre
and large scale festivals at nearby Powderham Castle,
host to Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2016 with headliners
Coldplay and Mumford & Sons.
The city has a year round calendar of vibrant events,
with the Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink
taking over Northernhay Gardens and Exeter Castle in
April, a Craft Festival in July and a very atmospheric
annual Christmas Market on Cathedral Green in
November/December. Sporting events are also held
in high regard here, with a trip to see the Exeter Chiefs
rugby team in action not to be missed! Excellent road,
rail and bus links from Exeter make it an ideal hub for
exploring the rest of Devon. Go to www.visitexeter.com
to start planning your visit.
