<strong>TTI</strong> offers a diverse portfolio of supply chain solutions. The driving engine behind superior supply chain management is the<br />

Advanced Inventory Management (AIM) reservation system. This proprietary system uses sophisticated algorithms coupled<br />

with <strong>TTI</strong>’s expansive inventory to ensure continuity of supply. <strong>TTI</strong> also provides several personalized extranet products and<br />

services for customers that assist in managing their supply chain online and in real time.<br />

Advanced Inventory Management<br />

MRP1<br />

MRP1 is <strong>TTI</strong>’s forecasting tool that allows the customer to send a weekly MRP forecast file to <strong>TTI</strong>. Automatic release of<br />

material is offered through the mapping of customer-specified release requirements.<br />

TALON<br />

This new web-based stock room management system supports lean manufacturing concepts and is designed to dramatically<br />

lower both the acquisition costs and inventory costs for <strong>TTI</strong>’s customers. This single system can be used to support all<br />

suppliers eliminating the need to have many individual supply chain programs with a group of disparate vendors. TALON<br />

features include:<br />

• Online or offline remote stock room management<br />

• Internet based e-commerce with all suppliers<br />

• Complete bar code capability, generates labels, and supports PDA scanning<br />

ezReview<br />

eZReview allows registered customers to view their supply chain online. This portal provides access to view AIM inventory<br />

reservations. Additionally, customers can download “what if” reports to determine what level of upside requirements can<br />

be supported.<br />

ezBuy<br />

ezBuy customers can order online from their inventory reserved by <strong>TTI</strong>. In addition to ordering these contracted items, the<br />

customer can also make general purchases, view available inventory, and schedule releases.<br />

ezScan<br />

Customers who prefer material control through a kanban pull system can benefit from <strong>TTI</strong>’s ezScan product. ezScan is a<br />

symbol personal digital assistant (PDA) with Windows CE Pocket PC software that supports the user of 2D bar code labels.<br />

This low cost solution only requires a personal computer with an Internet connection. Order releases automatically trigger<br />

shipments from reserved inventory.<br />

Order Status<br />

Customers can check the status of all open orders placed online with <strong>TTI</strong>’s Order Status service. <strong>TTI</strong> provides direct links to the<br />

freight carriers that allows real-time tracking of shipments from <strong>TTI</strong> to the customer.<br />

In accordance to requirements outlined by the Electronics<br />

Standards Association (VESA) for the DisplayPort<br />

1 .1 Standard Video, Molex announces the external<br />

DisplayPort* Interconnect System . This external system<br />

is a development of the next generation digital interface<br />

for the PC and CE market . It consists of the plug and<br />

receptacle . This new connector has the ability to deliver<br />

high-definition digital video and audio to the display<br />

device via the same cable, thus reducing cost . The ease<br />

of the plug-and-play feature makes it user-friendly for<br />

consumers . This also means that connections between<br />

source and display devices without the need for signal<br />

translation . Such direct connection capability simplifies<br />

display product design and reduces costs .<br />

VESA has outlined the following main industry objectives<br />

for developing the DisplayPort:<br />

the ExpressCard technology .<br />

The ExpressCard technology developed by the Personal<br />

Computer Memory Card International Association<br />

(PCMCIA) is set to replace the PC Card technology .<br />

Its interface is smaller, faster, and less expensive<br />

compared to the PC Card . The ExpressCard technology<br />

supports the PCI Express and USB 2 .0 interface for<br />

connection of applications . This allows hot plugging<br />

which makes it easy to install new capabilities in mobile<br />

and desktop systems .<br />

Applications are connected via modules . There are<br />

two standard formats of ExpressCard modules: the<br />

ExpressCard/34 (34mm wide) and the ExpressCard/54<br />

(54mm wide) . Both modules are 5mm thick and are connected<br />

module length is 75mm, which is 10 .6mm shorter than<br />

The Very High Density Metric (VHDM) connector system is designed<br />

for applications that require high interconnect density and high speed<br />

signal integrity . It is available in both 6 row and 8 row configurations<br />

with ground planes between columns . The grid of the mating face is 2mm<br />

between columns and 2 .25mm between rows . The ground planes are<br />

interstitial to the signal grid . Standard VHDM connectors support data<br />

rates of 2 .5Gb/s with less than 5% crosstalk .<br />

The daughter card connector is made from wafers . Each wafer has a<br />

column of signal contacts plus a ground plane . The wafers are then<br />

mounted onto a rugged stainless steel stiffener to make a robust<br />

monoblock connector . The connector can include signal wafers, guide<br />

blocks, and power modules .<br />

On the backplane side, headers are available in lengths of 10 and 25<br />

columns . There are open and guide pin versions available . Extremely<br />

robust free standing guide pins are also available . These are mounted<br />

directly into the backplane PCB and can accommodate heavier daughter<br />

A secondary piece of the connector housing that is seated after the terminals are inserted into<br />

the housing to assure that the terminals are properly positioned . IT aslo reinforces the locking<br />

tang (the primary locking mechanism) that retains the terminal in the housing .<br />

Why choose TPA?<br />

Housings require terminals . The standard female terminal (70058) can be used; however, the<br />

customer should also consider the high-force terminal (71851) .<br />

It is important to protect high vibration application-oriented parts from fretting corrosion . Fretting<br />

occurs when the terminal moves back and forth on the mating pin during vibration . Over time,<br />

tin oxidation builds up at the mating interface and creates an intermittent circuit . The high-force<br />

terminal grabs hold of the mating pin and is less likely to create tin oxidation .<br />

To further protect against fretting, high-force terminals should be considered . Furthermore, the<br />

implementation of gold contacts is essential to prevent oxidation, as gold does not oxidize .<br />

Molex offers male terminals and housings or PCB headers to mate with the TPA connector<br />

(wire-to-wire and wire-to-board) .<br />
