International provider of<br />

telecommunications, enterprise and<br />

consumer technology solutions for the<br />

Mobile Internet, ZTE Corporation, has<br />

posted a 27.8 percent rise in first-quarter<br />

profit, citing increased sales of carrier<br />

network solutions and smartphones. ZTE<br />

says that it is strengthening its position as<br />

a global leader in 5G research and<br />

deepening its collaboration with carriers<br />

through its new proprietary frequency<br />

division duplex long-term evolution (FDD-<br />

LTE) based Massive multiple input multiple<br />

output (MIMO) solution. ZTE also says it is<br />

consolidating its status as one of the<br />

global leaders in Smart City technologies,<br />

with new projects in major Chinese and<br />

western European cities, including<br />

Germany and France.<br />

Business communications provider Arden<br />

Group has acquired Birmingham-based IT<br />

support specialist Computerworld Business<br />

Solutions (CBS) for an undisclosed sum<br />

saying that the deal will further bolster<br />

Arden Group's existing managed service<br />

offering, adding the comprehensive IT<br />

support and services experience of CBS<br />

into its growing communications portfolio.<br />

The long-term plan is to fully integrate<br />

CBS into the Arden Group brand.<br />

Commenting, Nigel Walker of Arden<br />

Group said, "The acquisition represents<br />

an important milestone… CBS gives us<br />

the chance to boost our service offering…<br />

to deliver a fully converged IT and<br />

telecoms solution."<br />

Tegile Systems, a provider of flash-driven<br />

storage arrays for databases, virtualised<br />

server and virtual desktop environments<br />

has secured $33 million of additional<br />

funding. The funding was led by Western<br />

Digital Corp and current investors<br />

including Meritech Capital, Capricorn<br />

Investment Group and Cross Creek<br />

Capital. The new funds will drive<br />

technology development and product<br />

innovation and expand worldwide reach.<br />

According to Gartner the solid state<br />

array (SSA) market will reach $10.4<br />

billion by 2020 and account for 52<br />

percent of the external storage market.<br />

With an all-flash revenue growth rate of<br />

110 per cent year over year, Tegile is<br />

already outpacing the market and is in a<br />

prime position for solid growth, fulfilling<br />

its mission of helping companies<br />

transition to an all-flash data centre.<br />

McAfee has begun operating as a new<br />

standalone cybersecurity company<br />

marking the closing of investment by TPG<br />

and Intel Corporation. They claim they are<br />

one of the world's largest pure-play<br />

cybersecurity firms and have appointed a<br />

new CEO Chris Young, previously Senior<br />

Vice President and General Manager of<br />

the Intel Security Group.<br />

Global telecommunications provider<br />

Level 3 Communications has been<br />

positioned in the Challengers quadrant of<br />

the February 2017 Gartner Magic<br />

Quadrant for Network Services. This is the<br />

third year in the Challengers quadrant for<br />

their managed hybrid WAN offering. They<br />

say that they can deliver the flexibility to<br />

scale bandwidth up and down to meet<br />

business needs and operate in over 290<br />

markets around the world, with flexible<br />

bandwidth options ranging from 2 Mbps<br />

to 6 Gbps.<br />

Nottingham-based information<br />

management software provider Ideagen<br />

has announced their acquisition of<br />

PleaseTech, its twelfth purchase in nine<br />

years. PleaseTech specialises in the<br />

development of software solutions for<br />

collaborative authoring and review of<br />

corporate documentation. Ideagen CEO,<br />

David Hornsby said "PleaseTech brings us<br />

outstanding intellectual property… to<br />

complement our existing product suite…<br />

[and] strengthen our position in Life<br />

Sciences."<br />

Augsburg-based company<br />

WITTENSTEIN SE has taken over 100 per<br />

cent of baramundi software shares, but<br />

baramundi will remain independent in its<br />

business activities. Uwe Beikirch,<br />

Managing Director of baramundi<br />

software said, "In our view, WITTENSTEIN<br />

SE is the ideal partner since it not only<br />

shares the same values, but as a German<br />

SME it knows and understands the<br />

requirements of our customers. We are<br />

convinced that this will produce benefits<br />

for both sides and we can develop new<br />

business fields in the Internet of Things<br />
