Source <strong>and</strong> destination IP addresses are configured under the ERSPAN monitor session<br />

along with the ERSPAN ID. ERSPAN IDs perform an important role in that they uniquely<br />

identify an ERSPAN session <strong>and</strong> can be used to differentiate between multiple ERSPAN<br />

sessions at the destination. This is particularly helpful in a centralized model where there<br />

might be many ERSPAN sessions aggregated. Finally, the state of the ERSPAN session, shut<br />

or no shut, is configured in ERSPAN monitor session mode as well. In Example 7-19, a<br />

monitor session is configured that will SPAN traffic from interface vEthernet27 to the<br />

destination IP address of 10.1.1.100 <strong>and</strong> an ERSPAN-ID of 1000.<br />
