Evista (Raloxifene) ra-LOX-i-feen Classification: Selective estrogen receptor modulator IFU: Osteoporosis Action: Reduces resorption of bone and decreases overall bone turnover, These effects on bone are manifested as reductions in serum and urine levels of bone turnover markers and increases bone mineral density. Dosage: 60 mg Route: P.O. Adverse Reaction: sinusitis, infection, flu syndrome, hot flashes, depression, insomnia, chest pain, weight gain, fever Interactions: Cholestyramine: Causes significant reduction in absorption of raloxifene. Relieves skeletal muscle spasm of local origin without disrupting muscle function. Dosage: 10 mg Route: P.O. Adverse Reaction: drowsiness, dizziness, seizures, arrhythmias, dry mouth, headache Interactions: CNS depressants: Increased CNS depression. Avoid concomitant use. Page 71
