About us
Pontificia Universidad Javeriana is a Jesuit institution
of higher learning whose beginnings go back to 1623.
As one of Colombia’s most prestigious universities, it
offers a variety of strong undergraduate and graduate
programs in two different locations: the cities of
Bogota and Cali.
Given the growing economic and educational
demands, the Cali campus was established five decades
ago in the Southwestern region of the country.
Today Javeriana Cali stands as a prestigious center of
research and higher education, which recently received
the highest accreditation from Colombia´s Ministry
of Education.
Cali´s Surroundings
As one of Colombia´s distinct business and agricultural
centers, Cali is the third largest city in the country with
a population nearing 2´500.000. It enjoys a strategic
location 50 miles away from the Pacific Ocean, nestled
in the fertile Cauca Valley next to the picturesque
Andean mountains.
Ethnically, Cali displays a rich and diverse heritage-African,
Amerindian and European. This is a region where
immigration has left its strong footprint. Cali is known
as the salsa music capital of the world, this area is recognized
internationally for its colorful festivals and
celebrations. Its year-round warm climate, creative
cuisine, breath-taking landscapes, and cheerful inhabitants
make it a “must see” destination to travelers. Its
growing reputation as an educational center with a
number of well-positioned schools and universities
attract a number of visitors every year—local and
international.
