Enjoy juried work at
Art Fair on the Square
The 63rd annual Art Fair on the Square
is the signature event for the Deer Path
Art League and our gift to the community.
The two-day, juried fine art show Sunday-
Monday, Sept. 3-4 is located in historic
Lake Forest Market Square, attracts more
than 20,000 attendees, is free to the public
and celebrates the individual artisan. This
year’s event runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days
over Labor Day weekend.
Last year nearly 400 national and international
artists applied to participate. The
selected 180 exhibitors work in a variety
of disciplines including: ceramics, digital
art, drawing/pastels, fiber, glass, graphics/
printmaking, jewelry, metal, mixed media,
painting, photography, sculpture and
wood.
Featured specialty booths will include
the entrepreneurial Young Artists area
with artisanal crafts, the Lake Forest/
Lake Bluff Artslink tent highlighting over
20 community arts not-for-profits and the
Information Tent, which details Deer Path
Art League programming.
For over 63 years, the not-for-profit
Deer Path Art League has been dedicated
to the creation and appreciation of art
through a variety of classes and summer
camps at Gorton Community Center, exhibitions
of student and member work,
and the awarding of a scholarship at Lake
Forest High School.
Hosting Art Fair helps to fulfill the Art
League mission to “spark, nurture and
enhance creativity as well as raise community
awareness and appreciation of the
arts.” The mission is as true today as it
was in 1954. We hope to see you there to
help us celebrate the tradition of supporting
the arts on the North Shore.
Tips for summer hair care from Pascal Pour Elle
When the sun finally
gets here, will your hair
and skin thrive?
As the weather starts to
change here in Chicago,
it means summer is right
around the corner. With
summer fashions in store
windows, it lets us know
that fun in the sun will
soon be a reality. It is the
perfect time to prepare
your hair and skin with a
few simple steps.
To make your summer
fashion really glow, you
need to have fabulous hair
and colored hair needs
protection. Our colorists
recommend using a UV
protection spray such as
Pureology Colour Fanatic,
a multitasking hair spray.
They also recommend using
a mild shampoo, or a
sulfate free shampoo such
as Evo Therapist Shampoo
and Conditioner. This
shampoo is lightweight
and recommended for all
hair types. Between the sun
and chlorine, summer can
take its toll on your hair.
If you have color-treated
hair, our colorists suggest
using Brazilian Blowout
Smoothing Serum before
you enter the pool to coat
the hair. This will lock in
moisture, while locking
out humidity and provide
UVA & UVB protection.
If your hair is frizzy during
this time of year, we
recommend either the Brazilian
blowout treatment,
or the Keratin Complex
smoothing treatment.
It is also very important
to protect your skin during
this time of year. Optimal
protection from the sun requires
both a quality sunblock
and an antioxidant
to prevent damage caused
by visible light. Our salon
carries high-end skin care
lines that range in all sorts
of at-home care. A recommendation
for your skin
during this time would be
Revision Tinted Moisturizer.
It has an SPF of 45,
which is perfect for your
face. Reapplication is not
necessary with this product
except after swimming
and activities that cause intense
perspiration.
We are all looking forward
to summer as it
quickly approaches. It’s
time to take steps to make
your hair and skin equally
elegant. Topping your look
off with beautiful healthy
hair and skin will give you
the complete package to
look and feel fabulous all
summer!
26 fun
things
to do in Highland Park
and Lake Forest
(25 more online at HighlandParkLandmark.
com and LakeForestLeader.com)
Congratulations, Highland Park and Lake Forest; you
made it through another Chicagoland winter. Now it’s
time to enjoy some fun in the sun, but that doesn’t mean
traveling very far. In fact, it doesn’t even mean leaving
your hometown. Highland Park, Highwood, Lake Bluff
and Lake Forest might not be a tropical paradise but there
are plenty of options to keep you active this summer without
the hassle of hopping a plane or spending hours upon
hours in a car. Below, we’ve listed 26 fun things to do right
here in the North Shore.
1. Ravinia District
outdoor musical performances.
Food Truck Thursdays
will begin at 4:30 p.m.
and the chance to be named
the 2017 Grand Champion.
MEET TRACY
My passion for hair began at a young age. With the support of my family, I was able to
pursue my career in this industry. I have always been drawn to helping others laugh and feel
good about themselves, I have found I thrive in this environment where I can accomplish
that everyday. With the extensive education provided at Pascal pour Elle, I am constantly
expanding my knowledge and understanding of hair color and current trends. Outside of the
salon, I love being with my friends and family, reading, cooking, being outdoors and anything
that makes me laugh.
