SUMMER AT
NORDIA HOUSE
SUMMER DINNERS,
NORDIC WINE TASTINGS,
YAPPY HOUR, AND MUCH MORE!
The long days of summer are the
perfect time in the Nordic countries
to gather with friends for food, drink,
and great company. We bring that spirit of
community to Nordia House as we host three
special dinners, four wine tastings, one aquavit
tasting, and a series of Yappy Hours (that’s
right—bring your pups for outdoor seating).
Plan now to make your summer a Nordic one!
Our Summer Dinner Series in partnership with
Broder Söder kicks off with a Midsommar
Dinner on June 17 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, with
salmon, Swedish meatballs, roasted potatoes,
and more! Next, enjoy a menu inspired by
Peter Bro’s memories of Swedish summertime
crawfish dinners, complete with strawberry
shortcake, on July 22. Last but not least, our
Pickled Herring Dinner returns on August 26,
where you'll have pickled herring like never
before.
We will also have special summer Wine and
Spirits Tastings from June through August. Kick
off this series with a special aquavit tasting
on June 28 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM, courtesy
of our friends at House Spirits Distillery. A
variety of aquavits will be paired with openfaced
sandwiches to show off the unique
characteristics and flavors of each. Our
wine tastings will take place every other
Wednesday, 6:00 - 8:00 PM. They will include
some of our great Nordic wineries from the
region: Bergström Wines (Swedish) on July
12, Björnson Vineyard (Icelandic) on July 26;
Fullerton Wines (Danish & Swedish) on August
9, and Johan Vineyards (Norwegian) on
August 23.

Like to socialize when you hit hump
day but don’t like missing time with
your pooch? Combine the two here
at Nordia House as we join with Broder
Söder for our inaugural Yappy Hours:
July 5, July 19, August 2, and August
16 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Both indoor
and outdoor seating (four-legged
friends outdoors only) will be available,
with Broder Söder staying open late
to provide liquid libations from their
summer drink menu, as well as a light
bar menu for snacking. A dog-walking
trail will be marked, as well as a fenced
area for pooch play. We are pleased
to welcome local animal rescue
organizations to each Yappy Hour to
share more about what they do. (Wellsocialized
dogs only and no aggressive
breeds please). •
CALL FOR DONATIONS
Planning is now underway for all of our
great festivals and special events through
2017! These include our ScanFeast
live and silent auctions, our ScanFair
Country Store, our Midsummer Festival
informational table, our Nordic Vintage
and Treasure Sales, craft sales, and
other fundraising events throughout the
year. If you are able to donate goods or
services that would make great auction or
sale items, we would be excited to hear
from you! Suggested items include: travel
or stays at condos or bed & breakfasts
(unique experiences are always popular
items); dinners or wine tastings; gift
certificates; collectibles or antiques; and
